On the Radar Hoops Tip-Off Classic Preview – November 15, 2020

NORCROSS, Georgia, – With high school teams practicing and preparing for the upcoming season, our focus shifts to prospects and teams are poised to make the most noise during the winter months. OntheRadarHoops.com will host its’ annual Tip-Off Classic showcase featuring many of the top teams in the Atlanta-Metro area. We take a look at this year’s match-ups and which players are positioned to have the standout performances.

Milton

Here is a match-up of the two of the highest profiled high school programs in the state of Georgia. Both programs are loaded with plenty of Division One talent. There are plenty of future stars stepping onto the court for this match-up.Coach Allen Whiteheart’s team features class of 2022 point guard Bruce Thornton who is one of the top lead guards in the nation and may be the best in the Peach State. Also in the Milton back court is class of 2023 guard Kanaan Carlyle, who is consensus top 30 prospect nationally. Add in important additions such as Broc Bidwell and Kendall Campbell and Milton is poised to make another deep post season run.

McEachern will have the experience and the talent to compete with Milton. Seniors Chance MooreCameron McDowell and Randy Brady are ready to prove that they have the chemistry to compete with any team on any night. Most notably, Moore, who has a reputation as a premier shooter. He is looking to solidify his mark as one of the region’s top players as well.

Preview: Coach Geoffrey Pierce will look to lead the Rams back to the State Championship game this season. The Rams potential lineup could be one of the biggest that the Atlanta area has ever seen. The Rams are anchored in the paint by Clemson signee Ian Schieffelin and Charleston Southern signee Taje Kelly. Grayson may have one of the most talented back courts in the state in Tyrese Elliott and Robert Cowherd. St. Francis is coming off a State Championship and they will be led by Alabama signee Jusaun Holt. The Knights have plenty of offensive fire power behind Seth Hubbard, Jordan Brown and Holt.

We believe that Sandy Creek is primed for a breakout season. Not that they have been off the radar in recent years, but the talent and hunger that is present on this roster could lead them to exceed expectations. Jabari Smith Jr. is a Top 5 player in the country nationally and the one of the early favorites to win Mr. Georgia Basketball.  Throw in the talent of Washington State signee an newcomer Myles Rice and coach Nickerson should have plenty of cards in the deck this season. Meanwhile they will match-up with an experienced and confident Pace Academy team. Pace’s reputation as the favorite to repeat as champions will always be there as long as Cleveland is at the helm. Throw in Madison Durr, Cole Middleton and Josh Reed and the Knights have one of the best line up’s in the state.

Norcross is going to the team that everyone is anxious to see how they piece together. Coach Jesse McMillan has nearly an entire new roster that will be led by senior guard Jaden Harris. Harris had a good summer this year, he brings and aggressive two-way mentality to the game. While coach Lakes at Osborne will look to newcomer Zocko Littleton Jr. to take his game to another level this year. Already armed with an outstanding reputation as a shooter, we will see if Littleton can add important pieces to his game and lead the way for the Cardinals.

Fayette County

Pebblebrook has been one of the most successful teams in the area over the past four years. George Washington’s team reached the Sweet 16 last season and return a group of players that seem poised for another successful season. South Alabama signee Tyler Shirley is a 6-7 forward that has received plenty of attention this fall. Point guard Danny Stubbs could be the difference in this game. His ability to affect the game in multiple ways is notable. Also watch for 6-4 wing Jamall Clyce who plays with a ton of energy and a non-stop motor. The falcons will have their hands full with the combination of Cardell Bailey and Kaleb Banks of Fayette County.
