Game Preview: Berkmar vs. Pebblebrook

Jared Harper

Class of 2016 guard Jared Harper of Pebblebrook.

This game features two class AAAAAA teams that have their sights set on making a deep post season run. Coming off of a Final Four appearance last season, Pebblebrook adds a big weapon in class of 2016 guard Jared
Harper
. Joining Clemson signee Ty Hudson, these two will make up arguably the state’s most dynamic back court. Hudson, a left handed slasher, is a tough match-up because of his ability to get buckets off of the bounce. Harper is equally dangerous with his ball handling and a threat to fill it up from beyond the arc.

Coach George Washington is blessed with a talented front court to complement his dangerous back court duo. Derek Ogbeide, a 6-foot-8 post, anchors the team in the lane with his ability to block shots and rebound. He remains one of the top unsigned seniors in the state. Rounding out the Falcons line up are Kevin Murph and Trhae Mitchell at the forward positions. Both of these prospects provide athleticism and should draw the attention of college coaches in the late signing period.

Class of 2017 guard Al Durham.

Class of 2017 guard Al Durham of Berkmar.

Coach Greg Phillips of Berkmar hopes to replicate his success from last season’s Elite Eight appearance. Although the Patriots lost post Tim Rowe to graduation, they return 6-8 post Josh Culver who signed with Tuskegee University this week. A greater role should be expected from Al Durham, a class of 2017 combo guard. The lefty is a terrific athlete that has already drawn interest from schools such as Virginia Tech and Houston. Keep an eye out on guards such as class of 2015 Jackson Lenyear and class of 2016 Lane Foster. Both had solid showings at the Georgia Challenge in September.
