It has not even been a year since Ben Howland was named the Head Coach in Starksville. However, the college basketball community is already feeling the impact of his recruiting. The late signing of 5-star guard Malik Newman in the class of 2015 puts the Bulldogs on the map as a national presence in the realm of recruiting. Here is a closer look at what Howland’s staff did in the 2016 recruiting class.

Ado is an interior presence on the interior while also having adequate footwork on defending the ball screen. He was a vocal presence on the defensive end while also showing the ability to pass.

Herard is a legitimate post option whose build puts me in the mind of Diamond Stone (WI-15). He is not as skilled at Stone but is a force inside having a consistent impact on the games that we watched. Free throw shooting is an area of the game that Herard can improve on going forward.

I was impressed with Kegler this weekend. His jumper is smooth and seems to have a nice feel for the game these days. He definitely has moved from a “an athletic wing with developing skills” to a “a skilled wing with good physical attributes.” He scored 20 points on 7/12 shooting to earn MVP honors.

Wright is a left handed wing who moves well without the ball. He showed a nice flash and finish today against a zone. He is active and athletic. He reminds in build and in athleticism of Rayjon Tucker (NC-15).
