Opening Night Recap
Archer vs. Peachtree Ridge

I had the opportunity to stop in to watch Keith Arrington’s squad from Peachtree Ridge last night.  The Lions are poised once again to be atop of Region 7-AAAAAA, which is historically one of the toughest regions in the state of Georgia.  The Lions are led by inside-outside attack of post Amir Warnock and point guard Aaron Augustine.  The senior post, who recently gave his verbal commitment to Jacksonville University, showed early and often why he could be an impact player in the A-Sun conference.  Standing at 6-foot-8 and a strong build to match, he uses his body well to get angles to score around the bucket.  Look for Warnock to be one of the top producing post players in the state of Georgia this season.

The player that truly is the engine for the Lions this season is Augustine.  The class of 2016 point guard is crafty with the ball and does a very effective job of pressuring the opposing team’s ball handlers.  Listed at 6 feet tall, Augustine plays in the mold Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul in that he balances the ability to involve his teammates while also being a scoring threat.  Currently the sophomore guard has an offer from Georgia State and has received interest from several BCS level schools.  Look for him to be a topic of recruiting conversations in years to come.
