 Xavier has landed a commitment from St. Francis (GA) senior Kaiser Gates

Kaiser Gates-(Alpharetta, Ga), Atlanta Celtics-2015

Height: 6’7

Position: Small Forward

Committed College: Xavier

Gates is a very smooth wing that is long and athletic. He is a good ball-handler that can drive and slash with either hand and finishes with touch and body control. When his feet are set he can knock down the three ball. He does a good job on defense by playing the passing lanes and uses his ability to anticipate passes and turns them into steals.

3/15/14 – The Elite Preview (Norcross, Ga.) – Brandon Clay

Gates played more around the perimeter here today. He can really shoot the basketball especially with his feet set. In that way he is an elite specialist. Position wise can he be effective like Shane Battier is for the Heat?

11/16/13 – St. Francis Verizon Hoops For a Cure TOC (Alpharetta, Ga.) – Jonathan Hemingway

Gates put up a double-double here tonight with 23 points and 11 rebounds. He is a combo forward in many senses because he has the length to rebound and defend the interior. However, he also has the ball skill to create with the ball in his hands. He has range to 3, but it is not super quick as he has to take a step into his shot to get it off. Nevertheless, he will be one of the Southeast’s most prized recruits next season.
