Chattanooga scored a commitment from North Cobb Christian center Trey Kalina

This 7-footer has a good understanding of how to play in the paint as he seals well, has good hands, and looks to finish plays above the rim. Kalina finds ways to score with a couple of different moves in his repertoire, he is comfortable hitting a 10-12-foot jumper facing the basket or using a power drop step to finish above the rim.

11/23/13 – High School Season vs. Sequoyah (Suwanee, Ga.) – Jonathan Hemingway

Kalina reminds me of Kyle Meyer (GA-13), Iowa Freshman, in build and stature. Meyer possessed a bit more range on his jumper and ball handling than Kalina does at this moment. He moves well in straight lines and can elevate around the rim. He does a good job of rebounding and chinning the rebound, which prevents him from turning the ball over unnecessarily.

9/17/13 – On the Radar Hoops Fall Showcase (Atlanta, Ga.) – Jonathan Hemingway

Kalina is a post with legit size to play on the interior. He possesses surprising explosion vertically. He has good skill which allows him to score with his back to the basket or facing up on the I-cut. He could improve his lateral movements, which could improve his overall effectiveness.
