28-0! McIntosh finish the regular season undefeated

McIntosh High School made history Saturday night, becoming the first team in the school’s history to go undefeated in the regular season.  McIntosh easily won 98-79 in the regional championship over Drew High School, going 28-0 in the process.  Junior guard Jordan Lyons had his best game of the season for the Chiefs as he scored a career-high 43 points in the win. The Chiefs have been one of the surprise teams in Georgia this year. They were led by their core of juniors, Dishon Lowery, Will Washington, Chase Walter, Jordan Lyons, and senior guard Phillip Venson.

Senior guard Ty Cockfield has been on a mission this year to prove that he is one of Georgia’s top guards. The 5-foot-10 scoring guard has had multiple forty point games this season while averaging 28 points per game. Cockfield’s play has helped Johnson High School go perfect in the regular season finishing with a record of 27-0. Cockfield was joined by senior forward Rod English who has also played a vital role in helping the Knights become one of the top teams in Georgia AAAA classification.

Athens Christian goes undefeated in the regular season

Saturday night, Athens Christian won its fifth straight region title with a 80-47 win over Hebron Christian. The Eagles were led by Georgia signee Will Jackson who is

averaging over 22 points per game this season. The 6-foot-5 lead guard has been in attack mode this season, penetrating the defense either scoring or finding his teammates for easy baskets around the rim. In addition to Jackson, seniors Chris Tate and Demetrius McWhorter have been great providing plenty of offensive power.  The Eagles are on a mission this year to claim a state title. Athens Christian has reached the semifinals in each of the past four seasons, including a trip to the state title game.

Rice has offered 2015 forward Alex Olesinski of La Lumiere (IN)
Duke will host Caleb Swanigan, Derryck Thornton Jr. Harry Giles, and Dennis Smith on campus for their game against North Carolina
