#OTRHoopsReport: What We Learned – Boone & Rodriguez – Jan. 21, 2014

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Lincoln High School has long been known for its’ outstanding basketball tradition dating back to NBA star Stephon Marbury and his well documented rise to the league. Another Lincoln standout in Sebastian Telfair allowed movie crews to show the halls of the school as well as provide the community with an inside look at coach Tiny Morton’s program. This year’s Morton-coached team made a statement at the City of Palms Classic thanks in large part to the play of Elisha Boone and Desi Rodriguez.

Elisha Boone (Brooklyn, N.Y.) – Lincoln – 2014

At 6-foot-4, Boone has legitimate size as an off the ball option on the perimeter. The St. Peter’s commit is a talented off the ball option who can score it in bunches. He is capable of creating his own shot at any time on the floor. Boone is an elite athlete who dunks it in the half court off the drive. A four-star caliber prospect, the senior hit a nice step back jumper from 17 feet. We look for him to be an instant impact guy next year.

Desi Rodriguez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) – Lincoln – 2014

Rodriguez is effective and efficient with his play. In that regard, he’s similar to Top 50 junior power forward Marcus Derrickson of Fairfax, Va., though they are different positions. Rodriguez is strong, skilled with good lift around the rim. He will rebound the ball and face up at 15 feet to score the ball. The four-star plus forward chose Seton Hall where he will join his current high school teammate Isaiah Whitehead.
