2024 Hawks Elite | Team Spotlight – Birmingham Classic

Birmingham, Alabama- On the Radar’s “Birmingham Classic” headed to the deep south to showcase the southeast’s premier independent and sponsored travel teams. With 100 teams playing across three different venues, we had a good insight on some of the upcoming prospects from the 13U-17U age group.

2024 | Cam Bell | Madison Academy

Cam Bell is going to be a catalyst for this Hawks Elite team. Bell is a pass first type point guard and really understands how his teammates run the court. Bell is one of the better floor generals in his class but can also be effective at the wing spot knocking down 3’s or the mid-range. Bell is constantly active, playing fast but within his game. His understanding for the game and his team is going to be evident this travel season.

2024 | Brewer Carruth | Parklane Academy

Brewer Carruth is a nice sized shooting guard that has continued to develop into a stronger and more versatile player. Carruth really showed his shooting capabilities this weekend, consistently scoring in double digits and also getting in the paint for rebounds. Carruth is deadly at the midrange with his quick release off the catch. Can get to the basket or dish it off to larger teammates as well.

2024 | Tristan Gilmore | McAdory High School

I’ve been quite a fan of Tristan Gilmore since early last travel season. Gilmore’s game has improved tremendously and he’s still nowhere near his ceiling. Gilmore is 6’4″ but can jump through the roof to get rebounds or go up for monster dunks. He’s incredibly confident and assertive in his game getting to the rim, knocking down 3’s, and one of the more impressive shot blockers I’ve seen so far. Gilmore’s interests have increased significantly and expect offers to come in soon.

2024 | Brendan Martin | Grissom High School

Brendan Martin is a great utility player that does a lot of the dirty work for Hawks Elite. Martin is a fundamentally sound player that understands where to be on both ends. Martin runs the court well and is able to anticipate the needs of the offense; connecting from the 3 or cutting to the basket. Martin does the work inside to get an extra look for his team offensively or hit in the put back. With his long, lengthy frame and understanding of the game, Martin has a solid all-around package for the next level.

2024 | Justin McCall | Grissom High School

Justin McCall is a fluid and electric player on both ends. McCall sacrificed his body multiple times resulting in positive outcomes for the team. McCall is a workhorse for his team and scrappy defensively that adds additional offensive opportunities. McCall is fearless getting to the basket or finding open teammates. McCall showed he’s a three-way player this weekend and is a threat anywhere on the court.

2024 | Ashton Munson | East Hamilton High School

Ashton Munson caught evaluators eyes with his high energy and speed this weekend. Munson plays larger than his size; getting to the basket or mid-range with a high release. Munson is a quick guard and understands his role and setting the tone for the game. Munson showed he can facilitate well in the open court as well as get the offense running quickly. Defensively, Munson showed he’s capable of being a strong on ball defender and set a lot of his teammates up for steals with ball pressure.

2024 | Joshua Williams | Helena High School

Much like Tristan Gilmore, Joshua Williams’ game has taken off since last spring. Williams has a college ready body with his muscular tone and a game to go along with it. Williams has improved his shot making capabilities and averaged several 3’s a game over the weekend. Over the course of the weekend, Williams averaged 18 points per game leading his team to a 3-0 record. Williams has a great motor and like most of his teammates, plays fast but within his game. Williams will no doubt be a player scouts and college coaches ask about this travel season.
