OTR Hoops News: 3-star Point Guard commits to Kennesaw State

By: Ross Van De Griek

Kyler Theophile, A 6-foot-5 shooting guard has announced his commitment to Kennesaw State earlier this week.

The 6-foot-5 senior guard chose the Owls over Bethune-Cookman, Boston University, Chattanooga, Charleston Southern, Jacksonville State, Georgia Southern, Stetson, Tulsa, Western Carolina, and several others.

Theophile is a lengthy guard who has a strong knack for crashing the glass on both ends of the floor. On the offensive end, he is a slasher who plays with a unique blend of athleticism, allowing him to get to his spots and finish with confidence. On the defensive end, his versatility speaks high volumes, which allows him to guard multiple positions and doesn’t get phased when it comes to guarding bigger players.

During his junior season at Coral Glades, Theophile averaged 11.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. His shooting percentages also improved from his sophomore to his junior year, where he shot 52% from inside the arc and 41% from three-point range.

During his sophomore season at Elite Academy, Theophile averaged 15.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He shot 51% from inside the three-point arc and 55% from behind the three-point line.

Theophile becomes the third Kennesaw State commit in the upcoming recruiting cycle, where he joins Gray Collegiate’s Levi Ball who announced his commitment last month and Pebblebrook’s Zyree Brown, who committed to the Owls earlier this week as well.
