OTR Hoops: A Head Above from Summer Jam – April 21, 2025

A list of standouts from the OTR Summer Jam.
By: Kerry Willis
Terrell James 6’0 PG Showtime Ballers 2026
I watched James blow by defenders for an entire game and never get tired. He was particularly good at getting to the free throw line extended area and stopping on a dime midrange looks. His speed allowed him to take on bigs in the paint and he was able to finish over them with a series of floaters and shots where he went right through the chest of players.
Zyree Brown 5’10 PG Sewer South 2026
Brown was fun to watch on Sunday as he knifed through defenses with a very shifty handle. He kept the defense guessing with pull up jumpers and press breaking speed. A very confident player, despite his stature, he took on bigger opponents’ headfirst giving them fits with his speed. He was at his best as the game got closer and time ticked off the clock. Brown gathered his teammates and lead a comeback that started with his vision and ended with him being ice cold at the free throw line.
Flamio Mateus 6’8 F Showtime Ballers 2026
He possess all the tools and athletic ability to have a long career. Now he’s a bit raw, but very effective. In transition he was a blur converting on dunk after dunk while utilizing both hands at the rim. He slowed down a bit to score on a few midrange attempts, and his rebounding and rim protection was stellar. Mateus is a pogo stick with a skill level that just needs a bit of polishing.
Gideon Kamuelyu 6’6 PF Ga Canes 2026
Strong lefty who muscles his way to points in the paint. He runs the floor every chance he got no matter if he was on the receiving in of passes to finish the play or not. Not a big-time vertical athlete, but the combination of his strength, physical play, and decent touch around 15ft made him a player to watch.
Bryce Hoffert 6’5 SG Sunshine Elite 2027
After a first glance in checking out Hoffert’s game you would tab him as a shooter. After watching for a while I found that he was more than a threat from three but did a great job at stuffing the stat sheet over the weekend. The sign of a good ball player is consistency, and that’s what Hoffert’s numbers revealed each game. He managed to pitch in around 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and a couple of steals each time out.
Winston Steinberger 6’3 SG Redline Basketball Club 2027
Plays the game with a high IQ and a lethal touch from outside. One of the few kids that I witnessed using back door cuts over the weekend. Steinberger took what the defense gave him, and he was good and reading screens as he moved without the ball.
Caden Jackson 6’1 CG Team Scoot 2026
One of the more underrated players from the weekend. Jackson’s athleticism jumped off the page first. He has the make-up to be a big-time defender. Quick feet and hands, strong enough to body-up opponents and not give way. His shot making ability had him spotted up in various places on the floor. At one point Jackson canned five consecutive from the perimeter, all in rhythm to chop down his team’s deficit.
Christian Moore 6’7 PF Ga Stunners 2026
Moot hovered around the basket and pulled down rebound after rebound on both the offensive and defensive ends. He altered shots when opponents tried to attack him in the paint, and he did so without committing a ton of fouls. An underrated part of his game was his passing, and today he was on the money connecting on lobs with high flying teammate Cameron Jackson. There’s no fluff to Moore’s game; he plays a role from start to finish something that coaches on the next level will appreciate.
