OTR Hoops: Breakout Camp Stockrisers Part I – August 16, 2024
OTR hosted the annual Breakout Camp this Sunday, bringing together some of the top underclassmen from around the southeast to compete under one roof. Here, we break down some of the biggest stockrisers and standouts from the event.
By: Cam Rickers
Zach Graves – 2027 – Kell (Pictured Above)
Zach Graves came into the event as one of the more well-known names on the list and his performance lived up to the hype. Graves is a powerful lead guard with playmaking ability and a deadly shot. He gets the lefty jumper off quick and shoots it extremely well off the dribble. Graves also finished a couple of impressive lays at the rim, showcasing his body control and two-hand finishing ability. He looks ready to take the reins for Kell this year.
K’Majay Jenkins – 2027 – Westside
K’Majay Jenkins may have the highest ceiling of any prospect we saw on Sunday. His physical tools are through the roof and his motor runs hot. Jenkins controlled the glass in every game he played in and didn’t allow anything easy at the rim. He had multiple dunks and contested finishes as well, doing most of his damage in transition. His recruitment hasn’t taken off quite yet but Jenkins will be a MM-HM prospect when it’s all said and done.
KD Hernandez – 2028 – The Walker School
KD Hernandez was carving up defenses on Sunday, showcasing his combination of scoring and playmaking ability. Hernandez is a true floor general with feel and IQ beyond his age. He uses different speeds and body bumps to navigate traffic while still managing to scan the floor and protect the rock. He shoots the mid-range at a high clip and knows how to create his own look. Hernandez is entering his freshman year at The Walker School where things seem to be trending upwards.
Bryson Jatta – 2028 – Hillgrove
Bryson Jatta had a coming out party this weekend and now enters his freshman year as one of the hottest names in his class. Jatta showed us the full package on Sunday. He was knocking down tough shots off the bounce, skying for highlight dunks in transition, and dropped a couple of impressive dimes as well. Jatta has great physical tools and the early makings of a high-level defender. He could make an immediate impact at Hillgrove this year.
Baer Bailey – 2028 – Greater Atlanta Christian
Baer Bailey went toe-to-toe with some of the best in the state on Sunday and proved that he belongs near the top of the 2028 class. Bailey is a skilled 6’7 forward that can impact both ends of the floor. He showed off some sweet tough on the mid-range jumper as he knocked down countless catch and shoot looks from 15 feet. Defensively, Bailey uses his length well to contest shots around the rim. He will certainly be one to monitor over the next few years at GAC.
