OTR Hoops: Coach Juke’s Standout Players from The Opening

For my first event as a member of the On the Radar team, I had the opportunity to cover several talented teams from across Georgia during the first official week of the travel ball season at On the Radar’s The Opening. Here are some of the standout players who caught my eye this weekend.
By: Coach Juke
2026 William Robinson, Team Huncho:
I didn’t get to see too many 17U teams this weekend, but when I did this Team Huncho prospect was one of the top players that caught my eye, he runs the floor effectively in transition, a physically imposing post player who was tough to guard whenever he got the ball in the paint, while also being a big-time rim protector on the defensive side of the ball. He’s going to be a name to remember because of his effort and how hard he plays on both ends of the floor.
2027 Byron Lee, Team Smash:
Byron Lee was a pleasure to watch from start to finish. He’s an athletic, high-energy forward who can guard multiple positions. His physicality in the paint allows him to rebound relentlessly, especially on the offensive side. He grabbed several put-backs and scored plenty of second-chance points for Team Smash, while also adding a couple of highlight dunks in the open floor.
2027 Kaleb Johnson, Devin Butts Elite:
Kaleb Johnson was one player I was eager to see play at OTR. Coming out of South Georgia, he’s a raw talent with great upside. He scored the ball efficiently in the paint and used his length to block shots and rebound at a high level for Devin Butts Elite. With his physical tools, Kaleb has the potential to become one of the top two-way players in the state, contributing to every aspect of the game. Look for Kaleb to make a name for himself this Spring and Summer.
2028 AJ Williams Georgia Stars
This might have been one of my favorite prospects of the whole weekend that I watched play, Georgia Stars guard AJ Williams was hands down one of the best players I covered this weekend. He can guard 1-5 at a high level and is a three-level scorer, showing his ability in multiple ways. He scored at will, punishing and dunking on smaller defenders, whether in the paint, in transition, or by getting to his spots on the floor. After watching him play, it’s hard to remember that he’s only a freshman in high school due to how polished his game is. It’s clear why he’s considered one of the best players in Georgia, regardless of class.
2028 Jerome McClain Team EYA:
McClain looked like the best player on the court at times. He’s a strong, athletic forward with great hands and footwork, playing bigger than his 6’6″ frame when it comes to protecting the paint and rebounding. He can stretch the defense, hitting threes consistently, and remain a threat every possession, as he showed this past weekend with Team EYA. Look for Jerome to be one of the top prospects we’ll continue to talk about for the next few years.
2028 Jeremiah Evans Team EYA:
6’9″ forward Jeremiah Evans is a name to know now! Even as a freshman, it’s clear he has a high ceiling and the potential to be one of the top players in the state for the 2028 class. Jeremiah is a long, athletic player who can play multiple positions. He runs the floor well in transition, looking to throw down a dunk or be a lob threat, and he protects the rim while also being a floor spacer, hitting the three-ball consistently throughout the weekend. If Jeremiah continues to stay in the gym, develop, and add more to his game, he will be a name to know not only in the state but across the country.
2029 Tae Mcallum, ATL Celtics:
McCallum was Mr. Do-It-All for them, coming through and hooping from start to finish. Even as an upcoming 9th grader, he had a couple of eye-catching dunks, letting everyone in attendance know he was one of the most athletic prospects in the gym this weekend. He scored on all three levels, found teammates for open shots, and used his athleticism to rebound over bigger defenders. He also added a couple of steals to his stat sheet, solidifying his ability to get it done on the defensive side as well. This 29′ prospect is a name to know for the next few years.
29′ Keandre Guyton, Game Elite:
Guyton was a pleasure to watch this weekend. He was a force on the glass, rebounding at a high level on both ends of the floor, grabbing several offensive rebounds and creating multiple second-chance opportunities. He altered and blocked shots on several possessions with his length; while also showing he can score at will in the paint whenever the ball touches his hands.
