OTR Hoops: Lasting Impressions from the Final Run – July 30, 2024

WESLEY CHAPEL, Florida, – The month of July concludes with a final stop in the Sunshine State for the On the Radar Circuit. More than 50 teams from around the region, and even a few from as far away as Wisconsin, stopped in to get a closing bump of exposure at the Final Run. Here is a final look at players who caught our attention over the weekend.

Simon Childers – TSE – 2025

Childers is a skilled combo guard with a quick trigger on the jump shot. We watched him slice up the defense with timely 3-point shots. His ability to handle in and around lunging defenders should not be overlooked either. He is a solid ball handler who can keep the offense moving with dribble moves and passes with either hand in the flow of the offense.

Joseph Young – Reach Higher Kings – 2025

Expect to hear Young’s name this season with the Bulldogs of North Gwinnett. He is an athletic wing who can slash to the bucket and score over the helpside defense. Listed at 6-foot-4, he has the length to be able to affect the game at either end of the floor as well. We expect him to become a versatile defender in the passing lanes as well as on the glass.

Timmy Mercer – Pirates Basketball – 2027

Mercer played himself into the conversation of some of the top underclassmen at the event. The skilled ball handler slid past defenders with his quick dribble moves on the way to scoring and dropping assists. His shooting abilities are not to be forgotten either. He can light it up from beyond the arc. With a quick, consistent release he demands attention from defenders, or he will be able to change the momentum of the game.

David Young – Pirates Basketball – 2026

Young is made for the modern game. He is a 6-6 forward with agility and strength. His athleticism will allow him to play the passing lanes as a wing defender. Yet his quick leaping ability and strength on the interior make him a threat in the paint. Young also displayed range on his jumper making him an inside-out threat on both ends of the court.

Fritz Nesbitt – South Florida Elite – 2028

Nesbit was one of the few freshman prospects that earned recognition last weekend. He is a wing with guard skills and length that allows him to score in the paint. He is a high energy, athletic player that can rack up buckets in a hurry. We watched him score 21 points for SFE in a win on Saturday afternoon.

Samuel Koko – 904 Elite – 2027

Koko is a lefty guard who is built to make plays. He is quick and explosive with the ball in his hands. He can turn the corner with a quick first step and finish at the rim or pull-up with a tough jumper. He also showed range with a solid 3-point shot. He is a player on the rise for 904 Elite.

Djuigui Camara – Austin Rivers SE Elite – 2026

Camara is an athletic wing-forward who excels at rim running. We watched him catch pitch-ahead passes in transition and flush dunks ahead of the defense. His ability to start the break with his rebounding might be the most important part of his game. With long arms and twitchy quickness, Camara is a player that is set to be a difference maker on the court.
