OTR Hoops: Memorial Day Classic Standouts Part I – May 25, 2025

ORLANDO, Fla.- On The Radar Hoops headed down to Orlando, Florida, where Game Point Sports and Events Center hosted the Florida Memorial Day Classic, which runs through this coming Monday. On The Radar Hoops scouts are flooding the scene and evaluating players from all over Florida and Georgia. Here is who stood out on Day 1:

2027 6-2 PG Martay Barnes (Austin Rivers Southeast Elite 16U)

Barnes is continuing to be a versatile weapon on the offensive end, not only having the ability to score on all three levels, but also doing a great job when it comes to creating for his teammates on the offensive end. His ability to control the game’s tempo and know when to create his own scoring opportunities has continued to improve.

2028 6-4 SG Jah’mir Wallace (Florida Rebels 2028)

Wallace, A 6-4 rising sophomore will be a name worth keeping tabs as he continues to have a solid spring for his Florida Rebels squad. His ability to put on an offensive clinic in the win over Austin Rivers Southeast Elite shows how confident of a player he is and didn’t get rattled where opposing defenses continue to blitz him off the bounce. On the defensive end, he also plays bigger than his size indicates where he was guarding multiple bigs as well as showing elite footwork to guard out on the perimeter.

2027 6-9 PF Nolan Nelson (Jet Academy 2027)

The 6-9 rising junior power forward showcased his ability to be a tenacious rebounder on both ends of the floor as well as having confidence on the offensive end to be a vital three-level scorer off the bounce as well as the catch. His physical presence on the defensive end continued to be a problem for opponents’ where he was consistently bumping drivers off the line and challenging shots around the rim without fouling.

2026 6-5 SG Tatum Holmes (SEBA Basketball)

The 6-5 rising senior guard continued to put on an impressive shooting display on Saturday in the win over Southeast Elite Gold, where he finished with 20 points and knocked down three 3-pointers. Offensively, Holmes showed a relentless attack for the basket, where he showed a ton of confidence at finishing around the rim while absorbing contact from multiple defenders. Defensively, his ability to guard positions 1 through 4 is what separates his game from most guards in the state of Georgia as we head into the summer.

2026 6-3 SG Dhani Miller (Mikel Brown Jr. Elite)

The 6-3 rising senior guard plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor, as well as showcasing his versatility on the offensive end, where he can be a primary ball-handler or play out on the wing with his athleticism and length. It’s not just his scoring that separates him from his teammates, as he also makes the winning plays, finding players on the move. Defensively, he was a force in the passing lanes and made a huge impact on the glass in the win over Team Breakdown.

2026 5-10 PG Kyree McKelton (Harris Athletics)

McKelton showed an instinctive feel for the game, where he had the ability to control the tempo and play at his own pace, not getting phased when facing double-teams. His IQ continues to be off the charts at finding the open teammates in stride, as well as knowing when to take the right shots. On the defensive end, he was very active when guarding on-the-ball and using his quickness to be a transition threat, where he would get his scoring chances off steals and deflections.

2027 5-10 PG Cory McPherson (Sunshine Elite)

The 5-10 rising junior guard is quick and scrappy when it comes to showcasing his ability to score on all three levels on the offensive end. McPherson displayed a great feel for the game at knowing where his teammates were on the court, and was very efficient at dishing out some strong, crisp passes to the open shooters. Defensively, he was a pest at guarding the passing lanes as well as being an underrated rebounder for his size, where he could get out into the open floor.
