OTR Hoops: Power 24 Stockrisers – July 23, 2024

OTR hosted the Power 24 this weekend, our third and final live period event of the year. Top-ranked prospects from across the region went head-to-head, making for plenty of entertaining basketball. College coaches from every level filled the baselines and we saw several players take advantage of the opportunity. These are some players that upped their stock this weekend.

6’3 SG Kiwane Garris Jr. – 2025 – Team Huncho 3SSB
Kiwane Garris provided a steady scoring threat all weekend for Team Huncho and stepped up in the big moments. Garris is an aggressive downhill attacker that doesn’t complicate things. It’s usually one move and straight to the rack for Garris. At the rim, Garris is a strong finisher that can take on contact and maintain focus on the basket. NJIT, Southern Illinois, and Kennesaw State were in to see him this weekend, all of which have already offered. Numerous other D1s watched him play as well.
6’3 PG Austin Walker – 2025 – Wood Elite
Austin Walker has managed to fly under the radar for much of his high school career but his breakout weekend at the Power 24 will likely change the outlook. Walker is the engine for Wood Elite and poses a consistent scoring threat from the point guard position. He’s always looking for scoring opportunities, whether that be in the pick and roll or running the break in transition. He made defenders pay for going under screens with his ability to shoot it from deep range. When he was able to get into the paint, Walker was very effective with his floater. He’ll be one to keep an eye on throughout his senior year.
6’3 SG Ty Harpring – 2025 – OTP NXT
Ty Harpring will likely see an uptick in his recruitment following several strong showings this weekend. Harpring went out with a bang on Sunday, 25 points on 7 three-pointers against Austin Rivers SE Elite followed by a 19-point outing against Devin Butts Elite to finish the weekend. Harpring shoots the ball at a very high clip, capable of coming off actions to hit perimeter threes or knocking down the pull-up jumper from the second level. Harpring looks the part too, 6’3 with great shoulders and a solid frame. Harpring would make a great addition for several high-academic programs.
6’7 PF Juju Winston – 2025 – Team Person
Juju Winston may not get the love that his guards typically do but his production for Team Person cannot go unnoticed. Winston poses a double-double threat every time he takes the floor, usually good for 2 or 3 blocks as well. He’s a good finisher around the rim and doesn’t shy away from contact when going up to dunk the ball. Defensively, he provides a ton of positional versatility. Winston picked up his 3rd offer from Kennesaw State just a week ago and they were back to see him this weekend.
6’5 SF Asa Montgomery – 2027 – AOT
Asa Montgomery took the main stage with AOT’s 17u squad and made a major impact in some big games. On Sunday afternoon, he put up 21 points and led AOT to an impressive win in front of 40+ coaches. Montgomery is a versatile forward that can affect the game in a variety of ways. He proved capable of hitting the three-ball consistently, whether it be in pick and pop looks or as a trailer in transition. His above-the-rim athleticism was also on display, multiple dunks over the weekend. His name was certainly added to a number of recruiting boards.
