OTR Hoops: Second Look Standouts Power 24 – July 23, 2024

MARIETTA, Georgia, – Coaches from over 200 colleges and universities from across the country were present to take in the action of the OTR Power 24. Even the coaching staff from the two-time National Champion University of Connecticut were in attendance. Here is a second look at a few of the names that got our attention last weekend.

Nikolas Avaliani – Georgia Legacy – 2025

Avaliani put an exclamation point at the end of a fantastic 2024 campaign on the OTR circuit at the Power 24. The 6-foot-4 wing continues to demonstrate his all-around skill with the Georgia Legacy program. Well built and willing to play physically, Avaliani is capable of scoring in traffic or setting teammates up for easy shots of the drive. And he is a proven long-range shooter making him a difficult check for opposing defenders.

Dillon Nixon – Bo Bell Elite – 2026

Nixon burst upon our radar early Saturday morning with a terrific 19-point effort in a win. The 5-10 point guard from Buford is a high energy creator with the ball in his hands. He zips downhill into the pocket of the defense, or he can launch 3s from beyond the arc. His ball handling and quickness make him an emerging prospect in the metro Atlanta area.

Charlie Duba – Above Academy – 2025

We caught a quick glimpse of Duba’s skill set on Saturday morning. He left enough of an impression to mention him here. The 6-foot combo guard shoots it with confidence from range. He is also a solid athlete. He can guard his position and is able to battle in traffic for loose balls and rebounds.

Tristan Thompson – Upward Stars – 2025

Thompson is atop of the top athletes to have competed at the Power 24 last weekend. He is a 6-5 wing with the ability to turn corners with the dribble and elevate to punch dunks at the rim. Thompson’s skill set is well rounded and not limited to just making athletic plays. He is steady handling the ball on the break and can connect on perimeter jumpers as well.

KJ Lee – UWIN Serventz – 2026

Lee is asserting himself as a must-know name emerging from the North Alabama area. We took note of his game earlier this spring at the OTR Rocky Top Invitational (story). He backed up that reputation with another solid showing last weekend. We watched him score 25 points in a match-up versus the ATL Timberwolves. He shoots the 3-ball with consistency and can wiggle his way to the lane when the defense closes out too hard at the arc. Look for Hazel Green High School to make noise with Lee at the helm.

Chase Lumpkin – AOT – 2027

Although the live period is most important for seniors looking for that last recruiting bump, we can also get a glimpse of who the future stars may be. Lumpkin put himself in that conversation with his play with AOT last weekend. The sophomore guard handled the ball in a lead role in tight situations. He proved he has the poise and the ability to play under the bright lights. He scored double digits and connected on three 3-pointers in a key game on Friday evening.

Alex Pierre-Louis – Florida Pro – 2025

On a team full of bucket-getters, Pierre-Louis fits right into the fabric of the Florida Pro roster. He can fill the role as a microwave guard, because he can heat up in a hurry. He is a adept at connecting on 3s while also having a confident handle in traffic. His well-balanced skill set should have college coaches looking him up heading into the school year.
