OTR Hoops: Summer Jam Top Performers – April 22, 2025

A list of top performers from OTR Summer Jam.
By: Jaron Pierre-Mathurine
Quay Mobley 6’5 F 2027 Thunder Select
still a raw product on the offensive end, I like the time and system that he has on his side to develop. Keeps the ball high, aggressive on the boards and is a good roll man in P-n-R. He just needs to continue putting in the work to develop a well-rounded offensive game to make him even more dominant.
Symeon Watson 6’6 F/G 2029 Atlanta Swish
One of the smoothest wings you will find in his class, SW has been making a name for himself over the past few years. Already a staggering 6’6, he’s comfortable bringing the ball up court and playing lead guard duties. Extremely good passer with good vision always finding the open man or skipping the hockey assist for the extra pass, his iq is already showing high level flashes. Might be too soon but he’s putting me in the mindset of a young Caleb Wilson due to the versatile skill set, ability to get teammates involved and forcing shots and playing within the game. He too can be more aggressive on the offensive end, especially attacking the rim, but he’s a player who on most nights will have a tally in every stat box due to his versatile skill set.
Daniel Hollis 6’5 G 2027 Only1Elite
Daniel passed the eye test via warmups then the skills were translated to the game. Physical wing, with a smooth shooting stroke who knew his hot spots on the court already. Threw down some jams and defended well picking up blocks on the wing and altering shots.
Jakye Benjamin 6’1 G 2027 EYA
JB had a very smooth game. The EYA brand has been heavy guard play that pack a lot of dog, grit and competitiveness for an entire contest but JB had a different approach. He played well within the flow of the game, kept a cool pace throughout, and was essentially a player coach on the floor. There was an instance where he saw the defense lapsing, not in a proper set and he instantly called out a play that led to a score, not the coach from the sideline but him on the court mid play called it. Little things like that speak volume on the court especially at the guard spot.
Micah McMorris 6’3 G 2026 AJ Bouye Elite
Micah was one of my more intriguing prospects on the day and his play left me wanting to watch more. Good size at the guard spot, tight handle, quick first step, and made good reads throughout the contest. He had the ability to get to the rim with ease or set up drive and kick situations for easy scores.
David Whitaker 6’3 G 2029 Georgia Stars
I left watching DW and saying to myself this kid can do everything on the court. Elusive, athletic, 3 level scorer, defends hard and gets his teammates involved DW is well beyond his years. Very high on and off the court, always aware and assertive and a fun player to watch. Continue to look for David to keep adding to his arsenal and making waves in a gym near you.
Makari Townsend 6’4 F 2029 Georgia Stars
It was a pleasant introduction to Makari game. Effective and efficient around the rim he displays a soft touch and has mittens for hands. Ran the floor well, was the go to for opp finishes and had a good feel for the game early. These performances look consistent and just makes him another impactful piece among a special group.
Derwyn Link 6’6 G/F 2028 Showtime Ballers P32
It’s evident in his mannerisms and personality he’s still a young prospect, but his size and lineage speak otherwise. The brother of Dwayne Bacon already possesses that next level wing size and frame that had scouts high on DB and he’s showing that as a freshman. He’s effective in transition and getting downhill and plays at a good pace. Showed the ability to be effective on the jump shooting which as well only adds to his tool belt. The more he locks in and continues to take it seriously, his potential will be through the roof.
