OTR Hoops: Super Seven from The Opening – March 15, 2025

MARIETTA, Georgia, – The OTR spring circuit kicks off with The Opening. Teams from all around the state came to get competition and exposure. Here is a look at players who are trending after day two of the event.
By: Jonathan Hemingway
Alex Lowry – Mpire MHC – 2025
Lowry is an available senior who deserves an extra look before he graduates this May. He is a 6-foot-7 forward with a solid frame and versatility. He is capable of scoring in traffic off a high post attack. He is also proficient as a spot up shooter in the flow of the half-court offense. The combo of his size and offensive productivity ought to tickle the interest of more than a few college coaches this spring.
Drew Wilkas – Atlanta Timberwolves – 2026
Wilkas is a kid who plays with a smile on his face, which is a refreshing attribute these days. He enjoys playing the game and likes to let his teammates feel that enthusiasm. He shoots the ball at a high clip from beyond the 3-point arc. His quick trigger and terrific body balance made him one of the top shooters at the event. Wilkas has the size that coaches are looking for from a wing. He has a frame that will allow him to defend a few different positions on the court as well.
Amare Lincoln – Team S.M.A.S.H. Pro – 2026
Lincoln has impressed our staff of evaluators for consecutive weekends. Last week at the Southern Hoops Reports Showcase, he flew all over the court scoring and pulling down rebounds at the rim. This weekend he continued the trend as a versatile forward. He can impose his will as an inside-out scorer. His 6-8 frame is rugged and still has the potential to fill out with even more strength.
Bryon Mays – Team S.M.A.S.H. – 2027
Prospect speculators ought to be buying shares of Mays right now. Of all the underclassmen who passed through Next Play 360, he has made the biggest impression so far. He notched a 23-point effort in a win on Saturday morning. He has impressive measurables. He stands at 6-7 and can get off the floor with twitchiness. His perimeter skill is rounding out. He is proving that he can deploy his 3-point jumper at will.
Christian Teasley – Athlete’s 1st – 2026
Teasley is earned the praise of several evaluators on site. He is a well-rounded prospect capable of impacting the game in several ways. He scored 24 points in a morning win. Yet, his game is memorable for more than just his shot making abilities. He has crafty ball skills and body control that he uses to shake defenders. He has good vision. He delivers the ball on time to teammates within the offense. He uses footwork. And he plays hard. If you watch Teasley play, you will come way being happy that you did.
Jayden Crawford – Georgia Canes – 2026
Crawford hit big shots in the big spots tonight. He swished the final two free throws of the night in the Canes win over Sewer South to clinch the win. Crawford finished 18 for the game. He is proving himself to be a reliable shot maker within the Canes offense. This skill pairs nicely with his ability to handle the ball in transition and make plays for others. Crawford is one of several Canes guards who swarm defensively and create havoc from end to end.
Zyree Brown – Sewer South – 2026
Brown emerged as one of the top point guards in the Metro area this year. His play with Pebblebrook helped his squad earn a spot in the Class AAAAAA Final Four. Tonight, he picked up where he left at the end of the high school season. He dropped 41 points in their match-up versus the Georgia Canes. The Canes are known for their menacing and high-pressure defense. But it did not phase Brown as he dropped bucket after bucket at the rim and pulling up from behind the arc. If Brown continues on this trajectory, we project that his recruitment will heat up heading into the spring viewing periods.
