OTR Hoops: The Opening Standouts (JPM) – March 17, 2025

A recap of notable performances from the OTR The Opening as compiled by Jaron Pierre-Mathurine.
Jaden McCullough 6’2 G GA Stars 2028
McCullough coming off a state title, he was at the head of a special Stars group. He got the game going leading players out in transition with some smooth touch passes showing his vision and alertness. Throughout the game he showed off the athleticism skying for some jam then the shooting touch. He has nice size at the guard spot and understands the game early. He has a solid foundation to build on for the next few years.
Jordan Wiseman 6’3 G Sewer South 2027
Jordan dropped into Sunday’s competition with a lot of energy and had the game to back it up. He’s electric, bouncy, plays at one speed and showed the ability to score on 3 levels. He’s going to be a name to star for the next few years if these performances are consistent. Finished with 30+ in win.
Kerrington Moore 6’2 2028 GA Stars
Moore is a player that has been making his rounds early and is building buzz. I keep thinking about his mental toughness and how he just has that “Im him” mentality. He brings an edge to this Ga stars group that tells me this team will not only win games but the wins will be dominant. He has a good change of pace at the guard spot, defends hard, and stays a play ahead.
DJ McMillian 6’4 G 2026 Bo Bell
It was my first time catching DJ in action, and he wasted no time leaving an impression. Bo Bell is known for its training and development of kids and that style showed. He was aggressive, fighting through screens, poise, a good scoring bag and played above the rim. Good motor to his game and will be looked to as a key figure for this group moving forward.
Tae Mcallum 2029 G/F Celtics
Tae was part of the younger group, but his athleticism jumped out of the gym. While kids his age usually dunk off momentum or throw down their first jams after a big lead, Tae was catching lobs and throwing down putbacks. He has a good downhill game, a sneaky tight handle and was aggressive on the glass. If he continues to improve his shooting that will only make him more of a dynamic player and really get the eyes on him.
Nas Bennett 6’3 2026 G Wood Elite
Nas had two very convincing performances on the afternoon. He showed the ability to get to his spots, scored on 3 levels, ran the offense and defended well. Even though a dead ball he had a convincing poster that really stamped him on the day and left me intrigued by more hoops. Smooth, low maintenance player who let the game come to him and left with 2 wins.
