OTR Hoops: Top Available Seniors Part II – February 2, 2025

With the high school season winding down it is time to look at which seniors have done the most to elevate their recruiting stock this season. The OTR media team has tracked many of these players at events in and around the city. Here is a second installment of impressions of available seniors.

By: Jonathan Hemingway

Greg Howard – Guard – St. Francis

St. Francis has put together a solid year, despite a tough non-region schedule. They have their eyes set to make more noise once the post season arrives. Howard is a big part of the success thus far and ought to be key for the Knights down the stretch. The 6-foot-2 combo guard is a threat to score at the rim on every possession. He has an explosive first step and soft touch around the rim. His skills are in demand at the next level as well.

Miles Clanton – Forward – Norcross

The Blue Devils are atop Region 7 in Class AAAAAA and Clanton is a reason for that success. The 6-5 wing forward is active, strong, and versatile. His highlight reel from this year is full of dunks and full court finishes. Clanton works at the top of the key in the coach McMillan’s offense as a high-post threat as a driver and shooter. Given his motor and production, there are several programs in the Southeast who ought to check in on him this month.

Alex Young – Wing – Etowah

The Eagles are eyeing a 20-win season and a potential run in the state tournament. Young has found his groove this season as a consistent scorer. The 6-6 wing is a reliable shooter from range while also possessing the size to battle in traffic. Programs that need a shooter with size and strength need to actively pursue Young in upcoming months.

Boston Kersh – Guard – Cherokee Bluff

Kersh is an intriguing prospect in North Georgia. He is a 6-4 ball handler capable of creating plays and distributing to teammates. He can shoot the ball with consistency from the perimeter while also being able to finish with strength in traffic. His all-around game gives us reason to believe that he has a ceiling that will produce at the collegiate level.

Jordan Samuel – Forward – Winder Barrow

Samuel is a jack-of-all-trades prospect. He has settled in as a defensive anchor for the Doggs this season. We took note of his shot blocking and rebounding abilities earlier this season. Yet do not discount the 6-7 prospect’s ability to put points on the board. Filling his role as a complimentary piece in coach McDaniel’s offense, he is ready to drain a 3-pointer or finish a dunk when the Doggs’ slashing guards create space.

Jaydon Cole – Guard – Milton

The Eagles are hitting on all cylinders this new year. They are 10-0 in region play and recently knocked off Whitney Young (IL) during their annual 5-star Classic. Cole has been in the mix all season. His shooting abilities have been an asset in coach Whitehart’s offense. Cole is more than a shooter, however. He finds ways to contribute across the stat sheet. Expect Cole and company to make a run in the state tournament.

Jaxson Jones – Forward – Gainesville

Jones is a 6-7 forward with touch, length, and versatility. It is easy to see that his best days on the court are still in front of him. Yet, he has had a very productive season with the Red Elephants. He can shoot the standstill 3-pointer and block shots in the paint. Interest and offers came quickly for him last month. A strong finish in the state tournament could earn him even more.

Chandler Bing – Forward – Pace Academy

Pace Academy is on a roll with a 20-4 record and perfect in region play. Coach Sharman White is eyeing another state title with the Knights. With Bing running the floor and being active along the frontline, there is reason for optimism. We have watched Bing a few times this high school season and he looks confident in his role. He is a strong, mobile forward who can clean up missed shots on the weakside glass. Or he is equally effective at leading the break off a defensive rebound. Bing’s skill and athleticism should have college coaches interested as they round out rosters this spring.
