OTR Hoops: Who Wants the Smoke Standouts – May 13, 2025

MARIETTA, Georgia – On the Radar Hoops hosted its annual “Who Wants the Smoke?” tournament, held across two locations over three days. The event showcased top shoe-circuit programs alongside many elite independent teams from Georgia. Here’s a look at some standout prospects and their performances from the weekend.

Cam Selig – Athlete’s First – 2026

Selig continues to turn heads this spring. A standout at prior On the Radar (OTR) events, his performance here was equally impressive. The 6-foot-7 left-handed wing-forward blends skill and tenacity on the court. He stretches defenses with his jumper and often leads the break with confident ball-handling. His athleticism is undeniable, showing no lingering effects from a knee injury over a year ago. Selig has the explosiveness to finish above the rim and the agility to defend along the perimeter.

Kota Suttle Jr. – Team Thad – 2026

Suttle Jr. is a versatile guard who thrives in various roles, a testament to his skill set and mentality. He can take charge as the lead playmaker to drive his team’s scoring or play a distributive role, empowering teammates to find their rhythm. Ultimately, Suttle Jr. is an athletic guard who shifts momentum with his energy and leadership. The next nine months promise to be an exciting period for his development.

Devin Hutcherson – Game Elite – 2026

Hutcherson is often overlooked when discussing Atlanta’s top guards, but the Holy Innocents’ product is on a mission to change that this spring. At 6-foot-5, with a long wingspan and strength to power through contact, he boasts measurables that set him apart. Hutcherson’s versatility allows him to split time on the wing or exploit mismatches as a lead creator. Keep an eye on him this summer, as he could gain significant recruiting traction.

D’Qori Abanikanda – Tier 2 Elite – 2027

Abanikanda emerged as a top guard at the tournament. The rising junior from Osborne High School combined strength and finesse to earn praise from courtside evaluators. He slices through defensive gaps with lightning speed, and when rotations cut him off, he’s physical enough to absorb contact and finish. His consistent shooting range was on display all weekend. Track this rising star as he continues to develop.

Carter Higdon – Team Person – 2026

Higdon is the modern forward coaches covet. At 6-foot-8, he impacts the game in the low post or at the top of the key. His versatility allows him to play the 4 alongside a traditional center or serve as a small-ball 5 in a spread offense. Higdon’s high-energy approach and willingness to handle the little things—setting solid screens, crashing the glass, and making timely passes from the high post—make him invaluable. While he plays a complementary role now, he has the potential to be a primary contributor in the right system.

Andre Dupree – B4 Academy – 2026

Dupree erupted in a Saturday afternoon game, dropping 20 points in a victory. The well-built guard combines strength and power with accurate long-range shooting. Defenders face a dilemma: crowd him at the arc, and he drives to the rim with force; give him space, and he drains threes. Dupree thrives in transition, playing with pace. The Allatoona product is one to watch this spring and summer.

Stanton German – Path Hoops – 2026

German earned the “New Name” award at the event, making a strong impression in his first OTR appearance this spring. The 6-foot-4 guard seized the spotlight with a game-high 20 points in Friday’s opener. His size and body control are rare, but his touch on contested shots stood out most. German’s footwork and composure are assets he can build on as he heads into his senior year at Pope High School.
