OTR Hoops: Atlanta Classic 17U Standouts II – March 31, 2025

SUWANEE, Ga.— On the Radar closed March on a high note with the Atlanta Classic. More of Georgia’s top programs started their seasons over the weekend, and we got to see some of the state’s best prospects go head to head inside Suwanee Sports Academy. Now that the weekend has passed, here’s who left a lasting impression.

Tre Keith, AE5: Coming off of a state championship win with Tri-Cities, Tre Keith kept his momentum going with an impressive Atlanta Classic weekend. When he gets going, there aren’t many that are wired to score more than he is. His bag is deep in that regard. Keith can legitimately score from all levels. As we get closer to the summer, Keith’s bucket-getting reputation should continue to turn heads on a grander scale.

Pops Dunson, Atlanta Celtics: Another explosive scorer at the guard spot, Pops Dunson can completely take over games for Atlanta Celtics. He’s strong, plays with great pace, controls the game, and can get himself open in a variety of ways. We went off for 30-plus one day and hit a game-winning layup the next. He just has a knack for putting points on the board.

Justin Mallett, Sewer South: Mallett is out there to hit shots for Sewer South, and he did that time and time again throughout their weekend. His range is deep, and he can rattle off several in a row when he gets going. He was one of the best pure shooters in the gym, and he hit some in clutch moments when Sewer South needed a momentum shift.

Nolan Nelson, Jet Academy, 2027: Nelson was a big-time presence around the basket on Jet Academy’s run to an undefeated weekend. His size (around 6-foot-8) and strength combined with his relentless motor made him a difficult matchup throughout the weekend. Active on the glass, Nelson vacuumed rebounds on both ends. When he got the ball in scoring positions, he looked to dunk everything. He plays with a lot of power in the paint, but he’s not limited to that area. Nelson stepped out and showed positional versatility with some threes and perimeter capability.

Chris Perry, Georgia Canes: It was another undefeated weekend for the Georgia Canes. Their resume is that of the best independent team in the state. Their backcourt (Jason Welborn and Jayden Crawford) has been outstanding and proved to be yet again during the Atlanta Classic, but Chris Perry’s addition to the team shouldn’t be overlooked. He gives them solid wing size at around 6-foot-6. Perry stacked good moments throughout the weekend. A defensive stop here, a key rebound there, timely baskets scattered throughout. Perry did a lot of the little things well, and he should fit in nicely on this Canes team.
