OTR Hoops: Standouts from The Main Event – April 8, 2025

A list of standouts from The Main Event last weekend in Suwanee, Georgia.

By: Jaron Pierre-Mathurine

Mach Mach 2025 6’5 F Path Elite

one of the more intriguing prospects on the day and a late flier MM has been filling it up this circuit. He comes in at 6’5 with really long arms that saw him disrupting everything. All he had to do was reach and the opposition would either fumble the rock or turn it over. At times the game looked too easy for him and he was just going through the motions. Long strides and uses em well to get to the basket, active slashing wing and a high-level finisher around the rim who can shoot the outside J.

Quintin Tookes 5’10 G 2025 Path Elite

QT did a good job keeping defenses on their toes and building momentum for this group. The unsigned sr plays with a lot of emotion and fight and it was transparent in his game. Plays with a tight handle and attacks the basket well. While probably being overlooked due to size this kid has competed in every match watched and plays the game with a chip on his shoulder.

Jayden Dickens 6’4 F 2025 Worldwide Hustle

was my first intro to JD, and he left making some eyebrow raising plays. Long frame plays above the rim and always looking to crash the boards, he brought a good competitive edge for his group. A late flier, he too will continue to turn heads during the circuit.

Shayah Goba 6’4 G 2025 Team Dickerson Prep

very stern and mature in his play and demeanor. no wasted movements getting to his spots and beating his man off the dribble. You can see the work the prep year has put on his mindset and body and can be a late steal for a program. Effective midrange pull up game, defends hard, coachable, and all-around team player.

Andrew Taylor III 2026 5’10 G ATL Kings

has been generating a buzz and continues to dominate on the circuit. They went undefeated on the weekend and a lot of it is behind his guard play. He plays at a great pace, super unselfish and gets his teammates going early. He never forces the issue and does what is required for his team to pick up Ws. crafty ball handler, heart over height, effective mid-range game and proven winner.

Mekhi Barber 6’5 F Norcross Heat 2026

Mekhi is starting to become a household name. I went into the matchup asking questions and he answered them all. Super high motor. He’s gritty, fights in the post no matter the size, has a good level skill set and is efficient in his play. Very rarely will you see his team get blown out due to his will to fight all four qtrs. Still this season and next to develop MB should be on everyone’s watchlist at this point.

Christian Moore 6’7 F 2026 Ga Stunners

good size and banged out well in the post. Soft hands and a nice touch around the rim. He’s physical and dunked everything when the space permitted it and crashed the boards well.

Jerron Wilson 5’11 G 2026 Ga Stunners

Wilson had a lot of wiggle to his game. Multiple acrobatic lay finishes, comfortable ball handle and kept his turnovers to a minimum. He created well off the dribble, including the final play that led to a wide-open attempt until his teammate dropped the ball. Good energy to him, can break down a defense well and compete hard for 4 qtrs. Definitely left me wanting to watch more.

Christian Teasley 6’2 G 2026 Athletes 1st

CT had a quick twitch to him. Highly fundamental. Knew his spots on the court that resulted in him hitting the go ahead 3. Good footwork and knows how to attack angles and blow by defenders. Very polished skill set for his age. CT wants the ball and is always looking to make a play.

Timbo Mitchell 6’4 G 2026 Athletes 1st

Timbo wingspan and long arms are the first thing that pops out at you. He too has a nice wiggle to his game, effective pull up and spot up jumpers and showed the ability to guard multiple positions. He wasn’t afraid to battle in the post and even threw down a monster two hand jam off the drop step. Physical player with an intriguing upside to him.

Jaquavius Cox 2027 North Clayton AJ Bouye

Always intrigued by what I might come across when AJ Bouye shows up and JC was a name that I left with for the day. They faced a tough Sewer South team but he was able to hold his own and provide buckets. He had a strong baseline dunk that showed a glimpse of his athletic potential and leaves a strong base that can be molded. Good competitor and was receiving multiple praises from the opposition post-game.

Qua Watson 2027 6’5 G Only 1 Elite

Qua erupted this weekend for 2 30+pt performances and left his mark on the scoring trail. He’s a wired scorer, knew his spots all over the court and was very efficient. Can create off the dribble or catch and shoot as his arsenal runs deep. Also spoke volumes on Friday after his 40-pts performance he was more enamored by his team scoring 85 than he was behind the solo performance. Definitely one to lock in.

Anthony Goring 6’8 F Team Mookie

solid fundamentally sound big. Nice touch around the basket and finished in traffic on multiple possessions. Continuing to build on his frame would be key to being even more dominant since further down the line he will have to expand into a midrange game as well. Ran the floor well, made some plays defensively and showed off some back to the basket moves as well.

Emanuel Wilder 2028 6’6 F Monroe Hurricanes

Good Size to EW early. informed me that he will be attending Newton High so the transformation can be epic once that coaching staff gets their hand on him. Soft hands around the rim, physical, aggressive on the boards and ran the floor well.

Amarion Lay 5’11 G 2028 Monroe Hurricanes

Lay did a good job penetrating the defense and getting his teammates involved. He could score whenever he wanted to but you can see him breaking down the game trying to make the right reads and playing the right way. Shifty on the dribble, has a nice swagger to him and is always looking to make a play.

Devin Hampton 6’3 G 2028 Crimson

Devin had some freakish athleticism. He was a monster chasing down blocks and protecting the rim. Offensively he’s a head down and drive type due to his football background but he was effective in that aspect of the game. Strong guard that if he continues to work on his craft will put up some eyebrow raising performances.

Jaiden Bocachica 6’4 G 2028 Norcross Heat

JB exhibited that Norcross heat pressure to the fullest. Aggressive defensively, slid his feet well, beat his guy to the spot, in your face attitude and took pride on that end. He also showed a good shooting touch knocking down a few catch and shoot 3s. Has nice size to him at 6’4 already and with a Puerto Rican background he brings that foreign touch and swag to this group.

Korbin Wilburg 5’11 G Atlanta Xpress 2028

Korbin brought finesse and grit to this group. Anytime they needed a bucket he provided one. assist, he found the open man, or just slowing down the offense he was your guy. Had a deceptive quick first step and he finished around the rim at a high rate even with contact. Another name in the Tri-Cities guard factory brewing as well.

Tenaje Freeman 6’8 F Atlanta Xpress 2028

Liked his post presence with emphasis on the defensive end. You can tell he’s still figuring out his body and how to fully be effective but once he got comfy he was blocking shots left and right. On drive and kick plays he threw down some monster jams showing he can be an above the rim type player. Continued work on his post game and getting him comfortable with the ball in his hands will be key to boost his stock.

Laron Mack 2028 6’6 F Atlanta Xpress

Laron has made our standout list before and continues to trend up. High motor kid, big frame, he was tested and taunted early against a feisty Formula Elite group. Once he got going he left no room for them to breathe. He attacks the rim with a vengeance, shields off defenders well with his body and is physical on the boards. The base is there with Mack and as long as he keeps adding to his arsenal he will be a household name in no time.

Alseny Keira 6’5 F/G Mentality Elite 2028

AK had a ferocious motor that saw him grab 19rebs in the matchup I watched. He captilized with both hands around the rim, a strong rebounder with strong hands and a will to compete. Plays fast, gets up and down the floor in transition with ease, and can see his footwork and fundamentals slowly come into play as the game goes on.

Cadien Hudson 6’4 F/G Ga Stars 2029

Caiden gave us a good glimpse into the future. Playing with the stars he already possess the size and potential you look for early. Athletic wing who can get downhill with ease, play above the rim and create off the dribble. This team is a walking highlight reel within itself but if the size and will isn’t there from the opposition players like Cadien are ready to expose. He mustered up 28pts in the performance watched, scoring on 3 levels and making it look easy. Def a name to monitor over the next few years.

Kegan Johnson 6’2 G 2028 Team Keon Johnson

Possess the size and potential early. He was always looking to make the extra pass and played a true unselfish style of ball. As the size of this group he was able to guard multiple positions and show hes willing to take on any role to help his team get a win. High rate finisher around the rim, can get by defenders with easy, 3 level scorer and athletic. Comes from a bloodline of hoops also being the brother of brooklyn Keon Johson
