OTR Hoops News: Top 100 prospect Joseph Hartman commits to Michigan

By: Ross Van De Griek

6-foot-5 senior shooting guard Joseph Hartman, out of The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida, announced he has committed to Dusty May and the University of Michigan on Wednesday.

Hartman chose the Wolverines over Butler, Dayton, Iowa, Minnesota, and several others.

Hartman is a multi-positional athlete with great instincts and a feel for the game, where he is a good ball handler and passer. He uses his strength to his advantage when being guarded by smaller players, as well as being effective off the catch and the bounce. On defense, he plays like a wing but has the length and athleticism to be able to guard multiple positions and is a good rebounder for his size.

Hartman has some basketball loyalty in the family as he is the son of Florida Gators Associate Head Coach Carlin Hartman, who is coming off winning the 2025 National Championship over Houston.

Hartman played for Austin Rivers SE Elite, which is a part of the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, where he averaged 13.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 51% from the field, 46% from the three-point line, and 78% from the free throw line during the summer circuit.

During his junior season with The Rock School, Hartman averaged 18.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 54% from inside the three-point line, 36% from behind the arc, and 74% from the free throw line.
