OTR Hoops News: UCF lands 3-star Point Guard Donovan Williams Jr.

By: Ross Van De Griek

6-foot-3 senior point guard Donovan Williams Jr. has committed to UCF, he announced on Wednesday.

Williams is a native of Orlando, Florida, and will play his upcoming senior season at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, after spending the summer playing under Steven Reece and Oak Ridge High School.

Williams is no stranger to the greater-Orlando area after playing his freshman season at The First Academy and his sophomore season at Edgewater High School before making the move to the national powerhouse before the start of his junior season.

Williams chose the Knights over several offers that included Arizona State, Duquesne, Florida State, George Mason, South Florida, and Toledo.

Williams is a three-level scorer as well as a pass-first guard who can find open teammates on the move, whether it’s off the catch or bounce on the offensive end. He also has sneaky athleticism for his size, where he can battle on the glass as well as pressuring opposing ball-handlers for 94 feet. He also has a strong knack for jumping the passing lanes, forcing steals and deflections on the defensive end.

During his sophomore season at Edgewater, Williams averaged 16.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.2 steals per game for the Eagles.

Williams becomes the second UCF commit in the 2026 recruiting cycle, joining Tennessee Collegiate Academy’s Christian Gibson, who committed to the Knights last month.
