OTR Hoops News: Four-star Small Forward Kevin Thomas commits to LSU

By: Ross Van De Griek

Four-star small forward Kevin Thomas announced on CBS Sports HQ that he has committed to LSU on Friday. Thomas chose the Tigers over Auburn, Florida State, and Miami.

The 6-foot-7 small forward is a native of Pompano Beach, Florida, where he attended and won three state championships with Sagemont before announcing he will now attend Montverde Academy for his upcoming senior season, where he aspires to help lead the Eagles to a national title next spring.

Thomas brings a blend of size, length, and athleticism, where he has nearly a 7-foot wingspan, which allows him to play down low, where he can alter shots around the rim as well as on the perimeter, where he can make havoc in the passing lanes. On the offensive end, he is a strong finisher when it comes to playing around the rim and has improved to be a consistent mid-range scoring threat. His handle has also improved as he is becoming a smart and accurate passer, which has been effective off the bounce or catch.

Thomas is now the third LSU commit for Matt McMahon in the 2026 recruiting class, joining NBA Global Academy’s Marcus Vaughn, who committed to the Tigers back in May, and The Villages Charter’s Herly Brutus, who announced his pledge to the Tigers earlier this month.

During his junior season at Sagemont, Thomas averaged 17.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 52% from inside the three-point line and 39% from behind the arc.
