OTR Hoops News: 2027 Breakout Players to Watch in Florida During 2025-2026 Season- Part 1
By: Ross Van De Griek
2027 6-3 PG Aaron Britt, The Villages Charter
During his sophomore season at The Villages Charter, Britt averaged 15.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in 31 games played for The Buffalo. On the offensive end, Britt plays with a ton of confidence as his court vision continues to improve, where he makes strong passes on the move to cutters as well as shooters on the perimeter. On the defensive end, his footwork and quickness allow him to guard on and off the ball at a high level, as well as being an above-average rebounder from the guard position. Britt made a ton of noise in his recruitment this summer, picking up offers from Arkansas State, California, Kennesaw State, Jacksonville, Tennessee, and several others.
2027 6-2 PG Martay Barnes, Academy of Central Florida
Barnes has taken command of the backcourt, where his handle and unselfishness continue to make huge strides as he heads into the upcoming season. Barnes plays with speed and pace on both ends of the floor, where his vocality provides a ton of leadership in front of the coaching staff. On the offensive end, he is confident when it comes to scoring on all three levels and doesn’t need a lot of time to get off his shot. On defense, Barnes plays with a ton of energy that continues to feed off his teammates and is a highly coveted prospect that will be worth making note of as Power 4 offers hit his radar.
2027 6-10 PF Kyle Blair, The First Academy (Orlando)
Blair has made a huge jump from his sophomore season to this season, where he has grown three inches. On offense, Blair is very active on the interior, where his footwork continues to impress, and he is a lob-catcher and can get to his spots finishing through contact. On the defensive end, he is long and wiry, where his frame allows him to guard multiple positions and be very active in the passing lanes. He also has a quick leap where he can alter shots at the front of the rim, as well as having a smooth handle to operate the offense in transition, as well as in a half-court offense.
2027 6-9 PF Madden Geiger, Calvary Christian (Clearwater)
The 6-foot-9 junior forward has a steady jump shot that he can knock down off the catch as well as the bounce on the offensive end. Adding some muscle to his frame this off-season will allow him to be a bruiser, where he can finish at the point of attack and not be afraid when it comes to finishing through contact. His perimeter shooting touch has taken huge strides, where he can spread the floor, as he shot 33% from the three-point line last season.
2027 6-6 SF Anthony Brown, Boca Ciega
The 6-6 junior wing can impact the game in a variety of ways, whether it’s his athleticism or strength on the offensive end, punishing defenders at the front of the rim. He is also an above-average rebounder for his position and has a mature game beyond his years. On the defensive end, he is very disruptive in the passing lanes and creates turnovers, leading to scores on the other end. He can control the pace and apply constant pressure on opposing defenses. Picked up his first offer during the summer, playing with 1Family Hoops from Tulsa, which we can expect his recruitment to heat up as the season rolls on.
2027 5-11 PG Dominick Walsh, Northside Christian
Walsh is a shifty point guard who can make the game look easy on the offensive end with his playmaking abilities and can score on all three levels. His handle has a ton of confidence and makes the strong reads to his teammates, whether it’s on the move or off the catch. On the defensive end, Walsh is relentless, whether it’s guarding on or off the ball, as his energy feeds off his teammates, where he can get a steal or a deflection leading to scores on the other end. He is still gelling with his teammates after transferring from Fivay to Northside Christian during the summer.
