OTR Circuit: 17U MVP Donovan Swain

Donovan Swain of Team Gold Coast is the 2026 OTR Circuit 17U MVP. He earned the award through consistent play that began in the spring and never slowed down. Swain established himself early as one of the premier scoring guards on the circuit and backed that reputation up all the way through July.

His game is defined by dynamic scoring. He shoots it well from three, is a terrific midrange shooter, and finishes consistently at the rim. He also brings solid perimeter defense and can guard either backcourt position. The complete package makes him ready for the next level.

Team Gold Coast finished the regular season as a top-five team on the circuit and was a featured program at each live period event. College coaches from across the country showed up to watch. While Swain was the focal point of the offense, he played within the system and never forced the action. He blended well beside point guard Gavin Reed to form one of the stronger independent backcourts in the nation.

The deciding moment came at the Elite 32. Swain and Team Gold Coast faced Sunshine Elite in a heavyweight matchup. Swain hit the game-tying jumper to force overtime and then scored the deciding basket in OT to secure the win. That moment captured what evaluators had been saying for months.

Productive, confident, and consistently impactful, he brings a strong blend of scoring ability, feel, and competitiveness that stands out every time he steps on the floor. High-level guard who can control the game, make tough shots, and still create for others while setting the tone with his presence.”

That evaluation held up. At the Sweet Sixteen, Josh Tec (@_joshtec) noted the same multi-level scoring along with clear communication and leadership during a gutsy comeback win for Team Gold Coast. Later at the Elite 32, Q Green (@RoseySportsUSA) called him prime time, a three-level scorer who thrives under the brightest lights and pressure situations.

This winter Swain will return to Coral Glades High School, where he plays for his travel coach Stefan Whittingham, better known as Coach Ham. OTR evaluator Ross Van De Griek, who covers Florida high school basketball closely, sees Coral Glades as one of the favorites in their region. Swain already holds an offer from Kennesaw State and continues to draw attention from programs looking for scoring and competitiveness on the wing.

Donovan Swain was the most consistent and impactful performer at the 17U level on the OTR Circuit this season. That is why he is the MVP.
