OTR Hoops: Florida’s Top 20 Wings Regardless of Class

With the 2026-2027 season getting underway in just a few weeks, we are taking a closer look at 20 of the top combo guards in the Sunshine State worth keeping an eye on this season, regardless of class. From rising seniors to proven underclassmen, here are the top small forwards and wings in Florida. Keep in mind these names are not listed in no order:

Ross Van De Griek

Oct 20, 2026

Jordan Page - IMG Academy - 2027 (UConn commit)

Page tends to look more like a small forward than a shooting guard based on his size. On the offensive end, he moves exceptionally well without the basketball in his hands, where he can get to his spots playing off ball. He has become more comfortable when it comes to handling the basketball in transition, where he makes smart decisions on whether to shoot versus drive-and-kick to an open teammate. On the defensive end, he is versatile, as he can guard positions 1 through 4 with his length and athleticism, and he challenges shots on the perimeter as well as altering shots around the rim. Overall, he will become the secondary ball handler for a loaded IMG Academy squad as they search to return to form under first-year head coach Jackson Johnson.

Marlon Martinez - Academy of Central Florida - 2027 (Marquette commit)

Martinez does a great job of knowing when to change speeds in the half-court where he can cause separation in the defense. Standing at 6-foot-5, he brings a blend of good size, length, and athleticism, and he can see over defenders and is unafraid when it comes to finishing at the rim on the point of attack. He also moves well without the basketball in his hands as he utilizes himself to get open by setting screens and getting to his spots. On the defensive end, he is often at times guarding out on the perimeter where he saves energy, making it for his offensive game. Overall, Martinez has a great feel for the game, where he understands rotations, spacing, and timing, and he can be efficient on both ends of the floor.

Maddox Davis - Montverde Academy - 2027

Davis plays with a sense of energy and patience when it comes to making an impact. On the offensive end, he moves off the ball with purpose, getting into the right areas to be effective. He has a great knack for fighting off screens and rolling to the basket where he is unafraid to finish through contact. On the defensive end, his length allows him to contest shots across all three scoring levels as well as being able to disrupt the passing lanes. He adds great situational awareness, as he understands positioning and staying engaged throughout the possession. Overall, he can make an immediate impact at the next level with his ability to put pressure on the defense with his limitless range shooting from behind the arc. His ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor speaks volumes for Davis, as he could receive some major looks at the next level.

Brock Bass-Bonner - Aubrey Rogers - 2027

Bass-Bonner has established himself as one of the top two-way wings in the state for his class. He is a matchup nightmare for opposing guards given his size and stature, as he can defend on the perimeter as well as cause havoc as a rim protector. On the offensive end, he runs the floor exceptionally well for his size, where he can get to the rim and has explosiveness finishing over multiple defenders. He has also expanded his offensive game into the mid-range, where he has a soft touch off the catch. On the defensive end, his length and ability to guard multiple positions speak volumes. Overall, his high motor and ability to make an impact on both ends of the floor should start calling on mid-major college coaches to start showing interest.

Nate Winters - Westminster Academy - 2027

Winters is coming off a strong summer season playing for Outside the Perimeter on the PRO16 circuit. He brings good size, length, and versatility, and he can play multiple positions on both ends of the floor. On the offensive end, he is a capable shot maker whether it is as the primary ball handler or moving without the ball to get to his spots. He is also unafraid when it comes to being aggressive, showing off his athleticism by finishing at the rim over multiple defenders. On the defensive end, he moves well for his size and can guard in the paint, where he snatches down timely rebounds and limits the opposition from getting second-chance scoring opportunities. It will be intriguing to see how Winters plays after transferring from Osborne High School in Atlanta.

Donovan Swain - Coral Glades - 2027

Swain is coming off an impressive spring and summer season playing for Team Gold Coast on the On the Radar circuit. He brings good positional size, and he continues to trend upwards as far as stock. On the offensive end, he is a capable shot maker, where he can pick-and-pop from behind the arc as well as making huge strides when he can finish above the rim on the attack. He can also be efficient off the catch, where he sees the floor exceptionally well for his size, making the right reads to open teammates. Overall, he has expanded his game where he can impact the game in multiple ways and could be in store for a big senior season on a loaded Coral Glades team that was one win away from reaching the school’s first Final Four appearance a year ago.

Julian Fox - Edgewater - 2027

Fox is a skilled guard who can score on all three levels on the offensive end. He is a lethal shooting threat who can get to his spots moving off the ball, as well as showing consistent strides with an improved handle as a lead guard. He also adds a burst of speed where he can blow by defenders when it comes to attacking the basket, finishing above the rim, and being unafraid when finishing through contact. On the defensive end, he can guard both on and off the ball, where he brings his size and length to be a disruptor in the passing lanes as well as rebounding well from the guard position.

Malachi Jordan - Prolific Prep - 2027

Jordan comes over to Prolific Prep after playing his junior season at Dream City Christian in Arizona, where he was a dominant scorer from the inside on the offensive end. His game will transition to one where he can play off the ball as well as occasionally get to his spots where he can be a knockdown shooter on multiple levels. On the defensive end, he is very switchable, where he can often at times guard on the ball as well as help on the glass, snatching down timely rebounds. His length makes him a matchup problem for the opposition, as he can impact the game in multiple ways. Overall, he has been recruited by notable schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Arizona State, Kansas, Indiana, Miami, and several others. The next step in his overall game will be to gain consistency and more confidence when it comes to shooting from the perimeter off the catch.

Carson Crawford - Fleming Island - 2027 (Arizona State commit)

Crawford operates primarily as a small forward, but with his given size, length, and athleticism, he can play multiple positions on both ends of the floor. On the offensive end, he doesn’t get rattled or phased when facing a double-team, as his size allows him to see the floor exceptionally well. He is a smart decision-maker when he has the basketball in his hands, as he delivers timely and accurate passes to open teammates. On the defensive end, he uses his length and quick movement to be effective in the passing lanes, often turning his defense into offense by generating steals that lead to scores on the offensive end. Overall, he has a knack for scoring in a variety of ways, whether it’s his dangerous pull-up jump shot, craftiness around the rim, or knocking down clean looks from the perimeter. At the next level, Crawford will likely fill in the open-wing role where he can defend multiple positions and truly develop his frame into a valuable 3-and-D type player.

Josh Leonard - IMG Academy - 2027

Leonard is often at times viewed as a power forward depending on the matchup. He isn’t your traditional back-to-the-basket type player but does impact the modern game with his trending-upward athleticism and versatility. Leonard thrives in the transition game, where he can run the floor exceptionally well for his size and burst of speed, turning defense into offense in a hurry. In the half-court, he is often viewed as a pick-and-pop type player who will come off screens and can finish effectively around the rim. On the defensive end, he is mobile, can stay in front of smaller guards, stay active in the passing lanes, and is a proven winner. Leonard joined a loaded IMG Academy squad this summer after playing his junior season at Wilson High School in South Carolina, where he was often at times viewed as a combo forward. He joins Jordan Page, Bentley Lusakueno, Quentin Mosby, Lucai Anderson, and Will Brunson, so it looks like Leonard will swing back and forth between playing the small forward and power forward positions this season.

Markus Kerr - Wellington Sports Academy - 2027 (Xavier commit)

Kerr can show his true value when he can space the floor and make the defense pay with his true three-point shooting. He also moves exceptionally well without the basketball in his hands, using screens and showing a true understanding of where to get to his spots. He has vastly improved as a pure scorer who can be effective off the dribble, while already being efficient off the catch. On the defensive end, he stays engaged and understands the assignment, where he can be efficient in the passing lanes, rebounding, and turning defense into offense by generating steals.

Henry Robinson Jr. - Pine Ridge - 2027 (Jacksonville commit)

Robinson Jr. put together a strong summer season playing with Tre Mann Elite on the PRO16 League circuit. He showcases a combination skill set of size, length, physicality, and versatility on both ends of the floor. On the offensive end, Robinson has made huge strides as both a playmaker and shot creator. His handle has vastly improved, and he has become more comfortable handling the basketball out on the perimeter; he also has a high IQ, and he gets his teammates involved early and often. On the defensive end, he is strong, mobile, and has all the tools to be a true difference-maker. His length allows him to be effective in the passing lanes, guard multiple positions, and limit the opposition from getting second-chance scoring opportunities.

Anthony Brown - Boca Ciega - 2027 (Tulsa commit)

Brown is a strong and athletic wing who can make you pay with his will to attack the basket on the offensive end. He has continued to improve his perimeter game, which would add another dimension to his all-around offensive game. On the defensive end, Brown competes at a high level, where he uses his frame to guard bigger players, as well as adding impressive footwork where he stays engaged guarding smaller players. Overall, his rebounding and defense have improved drastically and could be in store for a strong senior season.

Ethan Mott - Grandview Prep - 2028

Mott has polished himself onto the scene after playing the summer season with Nightrydas Elite 16U EYBL, presenting himself as a matchup nightmare for opposing guards. On the offensive end, he can stretch the defense with his strong knack for being a three-level scorer, finishing around the rim comfortably, and relying on his athleticism to play multiple positions. On the defensive end, he stays engaged when guarding smaller guards and is unafraid to snatch down timely rebounds, battling against bigger players. Overall, his versatility allows him to make an impact on both ends of the floor, and we could finally see some high-major programs on Mott’s radar.

Nijaun Harris - Boca Ciega - 2028

Harris relies heavily on his strength and body control when it comes to the offensive end. He has a strong knack for attacking the paint, absorbing contact, and consistently finding ways to get to the free-throw line. He also adds a smooth mid-range game where he forces the defense into a collapse by respecting his jump shot. On the defensive end, he can guard multiple positions using his physicality and staying disciplined, where he challenges shots at the rim without fouling. Look for Harris to continue to gain major attention as he heads into his junior season, teaming up with Anthony Brown as Boca Ciega looks to get back to the Final Four for the second consecutive year.

Isaiah Hamilton - Montverde Academy - 2028

Hamilton comes to Montverde Academy after playing his sophomore season in Canada at Crestwood Prep. Standing at 6-foot-7, Hamilton has become more comfortable letting the game come to him, where he uses his frame to guard multiple positions as well as using his length to be efficient in the passing lanes on the defensive end. He also uses his frame to his advantage by staying disciplined when challenging shots around the rim without fouling. On the offensive end, he has shown that he can operate both ways off the catch and off the bounce. He has a great understanding of reading the defense, where he finds open shooters off penetration, and can score on all three levels. Overall, he is a wing who impacts winning in multiple ways, which could open eyes for second-year head coach Steven Turner and Montverde Academy this season.

Xavier Skipworth - Montverde Academy - 2028

Skipworth is a wing who doesn’t need the basketball in his hands every possession to make an impact. He does a great job when it comes to pushing the pace off defensive rebounds and is an accurate passer when it allows. On the offensive end, he uses his length to finish around the rim while being unafraid to finish through contact. He isn’t necessarily known for his shot creation but can impact the game by keeping possessions alive with his efforts on the glass. On the defensive end, he can guard multiple positions by closing out on open shooters at the perimeter and staying disciplined when contesting shots at the rim without fouling. Overall, his IQ is advanced for his age, as he has learned to play within the system and should make an immediate impact this season.

Miles Simpson - The Villages Charter - 2028

Standing at 6-foot-5, Simpson has the size where he can play either as a wing or as a guard. He can often at times slide into the small forward position depending on the lineup. His play style often at times allows him to play multiple positions, which gives his coach a boost of trust and confidence. On the offensive end, he is comfortable in the mid-range as well as being unafraid when it comes to finishing around the rim at the point of attack. Overall, Simpson is a high-level athlete who can make shots on the perimeter on the offensive end as well as being asked to guard multiple positions on the defensive end.

Herbert Agamba - Jordan Christian Prep - 2029

Agamba is coming off a strong Grassroots season where he played for Austin Rivers SE Elite 3SSB 16U on the Adidas circuit. He has become more comfortable playing the combo forward position given his size. He can stretch the defense with his ability to be a three-level scorer on the offensive end. He can also make defenders pay with his length to punish smaller defenders at the point of attack, where he can finish at the dunker’s spot effectively. On the defensive end, he can guard multiple positions and stay engaged, as he shows impressive footwork when guarding out on the perimeter. He has already received offers from Florida State, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M. Overall, Agamba is just scratching the surface and could potentially be one of the best 2029 wings not just in the state but arguably in the nation.

Draydne McDaniel - Prolific Prep - 2029

McDaniel is coming off a strong Grassroots season playing with Pro One Basketball Club on the Under Armour circuit. The rising sophomore is versatile and can play multiple positions on both ends of the floor. On the offensive end, he is a high-volume scorer who can be efficient both off the catch and off the bounce. The left-handed sharpshooter is expected to see a lot of attention this season while playing for a loaded Prolific Prep squad. McDaniel is already receiving offers from Alabama, Arizona State, and Georgia Tech.
