OTR Hoops: North Georgia Showcase Standouts

GAINESVILLE, Georgia – On the Radar Hoops hosted the annual North Georgia Showcase at Gainesville High School last weekend. The event provided a snapshot of top teams in the North Georgia region, while also highlighting the top individual performances at the event. Here is a selection of players from Saturday’s event.

Huey Blalock – Rabun County – 2026

It was a quiet night for the point guard in the score book. But he is fun to watch regardless of the number of points he scores. He competes on every play. He scraps for loose balls and rebounds. He threads the needle with passes that only he can see. He is one of the unique players who has come through the state of Georgia in recent memory. He committed to Navy over the weekend.

KJ White – Gainesville – 2026

White went head-to-head with the aforementioned Blalock in the nightcap. White and the Red Elephants came out on top. The senior point guard scored a team-high 16 points and showcased his quick first step and body control in traffic. White remains one of the top uncommitted seniors in North Georgia.

Brayden Wise – North Oconee – 2029

North Oconee enters this season with high expectations coming off a 2024-2025 state championship. Wise gives coach Ric Rasmussen added roster depth this year. On Saturday evening, the 6-foot-3 guard hit critical buckets down the stretch in a win over Winder-Barrow. Wise currently fills a complementary role for the Titans. However, he is showing skill and athleticism that projects him as a featured player soon.

DJ Hubbard – Cedar Shoals – 2026

Hubbard delivered the performance of the evening with a 34-point effort in an overtime win over Greater Atlanta Christian. The 6-foot-3 guard is a tough matchup for perimeter defenders. He can drain 3-pointers while also attacking the rim to finish. He did both on this night as he connected on five triples and scored the game winner at the buzzer off a dribble attack through traffic.

DJ Bembery – Lanier – 2027

Bembery is a trending prospect for the Longhorns early this season. He scored 17 points in a win for coach Mayweather over Commerce. The 6-foot-3 lefty brings an inside-out attack that opposing coaches cannot account for consistently. He provides the size and muscle to score around the rim. Yet he is equally capable of swishing threes with his feet set. His productivity and energy will be a cornerstone for Lanier as they head into region play this winter.

Ledger Kincaid – Greater Atlanta Christian – 2026

Kincaid is turning in consistent performances early this season. The Spartans are off to a slow start given injuries to their roster, but the 6-foot-6 wing has shouldered most of the load. He is a talented player who shoots the ball well from range. He is also a proven ball handler who can run the half court offense in a tight spot. He is signed to play at the University Washington in St. Louis next season.

Reed Burrell – Rabun County – 2027

Burrell is a prospect who ought not be overlooked for the Wildcats. He is a key reason why the young men from Rabun have been slotted as one of the top teams in Class 1A D-1. Burrell is one of those do-it-all wings who will take the tough defensive match-up or root around on the post. In their matchup against Gainesville, Burrell scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Expect to hear more from Burrell and company when it comes to the GHSA State Tournament in February and March.
