Wednesday Film Room
This week we look at four players OTR scouts have watched up close over the past year. Each player has a different story and is at a different point in his development. Here is what we have seen from them, along with video from OTR events.
All video complements of Southern Hoops Report from On the Radar Hoops events
Amare Medhin – Redan High School – 2029
Medhin is a trending name in the state of Georgia right now. Southern Hoops Report recently listed offers from UGA, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Nebraska and Mississippi State. We watched him at the OTR x SHR Fall Jamboree a few weeks ago.
As a freshman at Redan, Medhin was named Class 2A Region 6 First Team All-Region, Class 2A Freshman Player of the Year and an AJC Varsity All-Metro Atlanta selection. He followed that with a strong summer on the travel ball circuit and is now drawing significant recruiting attention.
He is on a trajectory to be one of the better players in the state, and he is drawing national consideration as well. His size, paired with his ability to create shots on the perimeter, makes him a unique prospect.
Michael Wright Jr. – Wheeler County High School – 2027
Wright Jr. earned an offer from Dyersburg State this week. The 6-foot-5 guard earned early recognition on the OTR Circuit as a lead guard with size. He gained attention with his ability to distribute and set up teammates from the top of the key.
There is also a sense that Wright has not fully realized his potential yet. He has not quite touched his ceiling as of yet, which makes his recent recruiting attention notable.
Lorenzo McCorvey – Next Level Academy – 2027
McCorvey gave his verbal commitment to West Georgia this week. The 6-foot-6 guard was an MVP candidate on the OTR Circuit heading into the summer months and was one of the more talked-about players on the circuit.
His development is notable given his size and skill set, and he was largely regarded as a top prospect on the OTR Circuit with Team Person this season. We will have more on McCorvey's commitment later this week.
Hampton Hill – Horizon High School – 2027
Hill committed to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, this month. He earned a reputation as a hard-nosed guard with Georgia Legacy this season. He proved himself as a reliable ball handler and a knockdown shooter. He also fielded offers from LaGrange and Toccoa Falls College.
On the Radar detailed his game after the Power 24:
Hampton Hill is a crafty guard who gets past defenders with ease. He liked to score in the midrange with a floater in this game. He was also able to facilitate the offense and play at his own pace. An all-around type of player.
