Carter Higdon Commits to the Naval Academy

Class of 2026 forward/center Carter Higdon announced his commitment to the Naval Academy last week. He is a 6-foot-8 prospect who competed with OTR Circuit 17U champions Team Person this year. He competes with Cambridge High School in Milton, Georgia.

This is what his high school coach, David Akin, had to say about Higdon’s development while competing with the Bears:

Carter has improved each season he has been here. He has a huge upside as he now focuses on basketball only, after splitting time with football. He has accepted his role within our team the past few years and is now ready to lead us as a senior. What sets him apart from other players is his focus on team wins and not individual stats.

Here is our evaluation from this year’s Who Wants the Smoke? event in Marietta, Georgia:

At 6-foot-8, he impacts the game in the low post or at the top of the key. His versatility allows him to play the 4 alongside a traditional center or serve as a small-ball 5 in a spread offense. Higdon’s high-energy approach and willingness to handle the little things—setting solid screens, crashing the glass, and making timely passes from the high post—make him invaluable.

Higdon reported offers from Georgia Southern and Jacksonville State before ultimately choosing the Naval Academy.

Higdon and Cambridge open their season on November 8th at home versus Chattahoochee.
