OTR Hoops: Breakout Camp Standouts via Mathurine – August 13, 2025

A list of standout performers from the Breakout Camp at Norcross High School.

By: Jaron Pierre Mathurine

Jeremiah Evans 6’9 F 2028

Jeremiah continues to show off his work and has been making an impact in every competition. From the summer circuit, to the UCAAG, to OTR Breakout camp he comes to compete and doesn’t shy from competition. Strong post presence which he is getting more comfortable in his motion and does a good job finishing in traffic. Still a bit of work when putting the ball on the ground and trying to create off the dribble, but he has more than enough time to continue to add to his game.

Calvin Goss 6’0 G 2028

Brought the energy in scrimmages and set the tone for the day. He started with his gritty, in your face defense, was very vocal to the opposing team then brought the offense to match. Plays with good pace, does a good job getting to the rim and finishes well in traffic. Def brought the Jonesboro grit.

Mbidggolbaat Caesar 6’8 F 2029

Of all the bigs Greenforest has produced over the last few years Caesar proves to be next man up and has the best blend of size and skillset. That blend will make it hard for the Eagles to relegate him to the post due to his ability to stretch the floor and beat his man off the dribble. Physical in the post, strong paint presence and aggressive rebounder. Look for Caesar to continue the Greenforest big lineage.

Tae Mcallum 6’3 G 2029

McCallum continues to do a good job playing aggressively and getting downhill. He came into the camp as one of the more well-known athletic players in his group and he wasted no time showing it with his above-the-rim play. He likes to get to his spot for a baby floater or soft touch finish and if defenders aren’t physical, he will blow by them. Still one to monitor over the next few years.

Abu Jallow 6’6 G/F 2028

While watching game 1, through the traffic I caught glimpse of Jallow gliding down court and throwing down jam after jam. Mix that with his size and ball handling skills, he created multiple mismatches on the day and shows with his size and skill he can be a ball dominant player who is trusted to make plays. Good size, good IQ, good physicality and plays above the rim.

Notable Standouts:

Nigel Matthews 6’5 G 2029

He was my biggest bright spot from the warmup session. His size stands out to you off bat and watching him go through the drills you can see he has a solid base and skill set. Effective dribble pull up, has long arms and is comfortable with the ball in his hands.

Austin Leonard 6’4 G/F 2029

AL was another name that stood out during the drill portions that bled over into scrimmages. Very calm and patient in his movements, utilized his size well and shows how much of a force he is when attacking the basket. Plays with good pace, never rushed in his motion and he knows how to capitalize off his strengths making the game simple.
