OTR Hoops: Day One Standouts from Birmingham Classic – March 25, 2025

By: Joshua Lane
Andre Jernigan ’26 Guard – Team EYA 17U
Andre is a crafty guard that is truly wired to score. He made play after play on Saturday and constantly wowed the crowd. His blend of speed and playmaking makes him a very intriguing prospect. He showed poise in the ball screen actions fighting against the heard hedge and traps. He constantly put pressure on the defense attacking in transition and was able to score at all three levels.
O’Jarion Patrice ’27 Guard – Florida All Stars (OTR) 17U
O’Jarion knocked down mid-range shot after mid-range shot this weekend. He knew how and exactly when to get to his spots. He used his craftiness to keep the defense off balance. The 6’3 silky smooth guard was able to get to his pull up whenever he wanted. He was never shaken up or panicked and played at his own pace. His size and tools make him a prospect to keep your eyes on for years to come.
DJ Jiles ’28 Guard – P7 Elite 15U
The 6’2 PG has all the makings of a Division I caliber guard. His IQ jumps off the charts. He has a true understanding of the game and floor spacing. He controlled the tempo of the game with great poise. DJ is everything you want in a PG. He has good size and a high IQ to match. He’s capable of scoring the ball at all three levels and being whatever his team needs him to be. Rather it be scoring, facilitating or guarding the other team’s best player. He’s a complete prospect.
Carson McKenney ’26 F – SMB 17U
Carson McKenney is one the most talented forwards in the south. Standing at 6’6 his IQ and feel are tremendous. He operates very well out of the high post and elbow areas. Rather it be him attacking the defense off the bounce or initiating the Princeton actions for his team. He wowed the crowd with his court vision dropping behind the back dimes off the bounce, finding cutters out of the corner, and passing out of double teams. Carsons size and capabilities from 3 help stretch the floor for his teammates. Carson is an interesting prospect and in the right system at the next level could flourish.
Jay Green ’26 Guard – SMB 17U
When I think of Jay Green one word comes to mind, competitor. The Alabama A&M Commit has a relentless motor and drive. He guards 94 feet and hold everyone around him accountable continuously helping coach up his teammates rather it be on the floor or on the bench. He has all the makings of a true old-school point guard. He has a tight handle and knows where his spots on the floor are. He plays tremendously well around the rim playing off two feet and absorbing contact. Jay inflicted pain on whoever stepped in front of him.
