OTR Hoops: Kyle Sandy Day 1 Standouts from Summer Jam – April 22, 2024

Summer Jam: Day 1 Top Performers

By: Kyle Sandy

2024 6-7 W Timo George – FOTL Gold – IMG

A mismatch with his size, strength and diverse skill set, Timo George got whatever he wanted against OSA. George is a tweener, capable of playing both the 3 and the 4. He uses his brute strength and soft touch when in the paint banging for hoops, but can also stretch out to the wing and attack downhill with a quick first step. Timo finishes with dunks and is a workhorse on the offensive glass earning second and third chances. George piled in 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Timo has a lot of tools to impact the college game.

2025 6-10 C Andre Ngomabie – FOTL Gold – Victory Rock

It was hard not to be impressed with Andre. At 6-foot-10, the Congo-native ran the floor like a gazelle and showed quickness not only laterally when moving his feet, but when getting off the floor for rebounds, grabbing them at their highest point. Ngomabie finished alley-oops and threw down dunks from the short corner. He flashed good footwork with his back to the basket, able to score over his left shoulder. Andre is a reliable rim protector that knows how to use his length without fouling. He posted 12 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Expect college interest and offers in the very near future.

2025 6-1 G Austin Walker – Wood Elite – Druid Hills

Walker set the tone early with an explosive 16-point first half in Wood Elite’s 63-42 win over Team AJ Bouye Black. The wiry guard plays with a high motor, impacting the game in a variety of ways. He’s got quick hands on defense to poke away steals and is a multi-level scorer on offense. Though he is on the lean side, Austin excels at absorbing bumps and finishing through contact. Walker went for 20 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals, showcasing his entire skill set in the rout.

2024 6-3 W Aleksa Ilic – Wood Elite – Furtah Prep

The strong-bodied off-guard tallied 14 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist. Aleksa used a decisive first step to get to the rim. His physicality downhill allowed him to bully his way past defenders. The lefty also filled it up from beyond the arc, knocking down three three-pointers.

2026 5-10 G Jalen Brown – AE5 Gold – Troup County

In a 79-59 win over Atlanta Xpress Gold, Jalen Brown was an absolute dog.  The Troup County product was relentless on both ends of the floor. He shot in for steals, created for others, rebounded with vigor and of course dumped in points in exciting fashion, utilizing his explosive leaping ability. Brown finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 1 block against the bigger Xpress. Jalen’s activity and overall energy were infectious. All of Brown’s field goals came at the rim while shooting 7-8 from the foul line. The tandem of Brown and Dee Moreland has the Tigers on the verge of erupting after a surprise state playoff berth at 12-18.

2026 6-3 W Kentaevion Moreland – AE5 Gold – Troup County

Moreland is wired to score. He is a dangerous three-point shooter but also has creativity with the ball, capable of breaking down his man to get to the hoop. Dee scored from all over in AE5’s 20-point win. Moreland hit three threes, netted two jumpers, scored in transition twice and had a putback to go along with shooting 3-7 from the foul line. In total, Kentaevion dropped 26 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

2026 6-10 C Amos Bouie-Turner – Atlanta Xpress Gold – Baldwin (Featured Photo)

The Baldwin big will be an immediate gamechanger. At 6-foot-10, Amos has elite size and good strength. He alters every shot in his area and can finish with dunks in traffic. Bouie-Turner has good balance and can bang inside. He scored on pick-and-rolls and threw down slams from the dunker spot. Amos’s frame, mobility and defensive instincts give him the upside to be in the discussion as one of the top centers in Georgia’s 2026 class. The big man had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks against AE5 Gold.

2026 6-3 G Deven Nelson – Atlanta Xpress Gold – Baldwin

I liked the spurtability of Deven Nelson. The big guard is an explosive athlete. He has a knack for getting to the basket and can finish in highlight fashion. What really makes Nelson tough is his three-point shot. He’s a threat to pull-up off the bounce and can score in bunches once he sees one shot drop. Defensively, Deven can be trusted to guard 1-3, using his strength and athleticism to matchup against larger players. The versatile Baldwin Brave finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks.
