OTR Hoops News: 4-star Shooting Guard Caleb Williams commits to Auburn

By: Ross Van De Griek

Steven Pearl and the Auburn Tigers landed their first recruit in the upcoming recruiting cycle on Friday. 4-star shooting guard Caleb Williams, out of Summit Academy in Tampa, Florida, pledged his commitment to the Tigers.

The 6-foot-5 guard chose Auburn over South Florida and UCF. He also received offers from Arkansas State, California, Chattanooga, Florida State, Mississippi State, Ohio, and several other schools.

Williams is a score-first guard who can create his own shot whether it’s off the catch or bounce. His athleticism allows him to separate from the rest of the point guards in his class and can also be a versatile threat while playing off the ball. His explosiveness and first step towards finishing at the rim, while drawing contact, have taken huge strides in his offensive game. On the defensive end, his ability to guard multiple positions has been effective, and he is a high-level rebounder who can crash the glass with the best of them and utilize his speed to control tempo.

Williams was named to the All-Circuit Team at the Prelude 32 League Live Period back in May, where he averaged 25.7 points per game playing for Southern Select Elite and gradually improved his offensive game during each session last Grassroots season.
