OTR Hoops News: Colben Landrew commits to UConn
By: Ross Van De Griek
Colben Landrew, A 6-6 senior shooting guard out of Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, has announced he has committed to the University of Connecticut.
Landrew chose the Huskies over five finalists, such as Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Purdue, and Texas A&M. He also drew offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Xavier, and several others.
Landrew immediately stands out with his size, length, and fluidity on both ends of the floor, where he can impact the game in a variety of ways. He brings a strong frame when it comes to finishing at the point of attack on the offensive end, as well as being unafraid when it comes to finishing at the rim while absorbing contact. He has also shown comfort when it comes to knocking down tough, contested shots from the perimeter with his quick release, which can be effective off the catch and bounce. On the defensive end, he plays at a high level and battles on the glass against bigger players and will often use his length to his advantage in the passing lanes or covering the perimeter.
During the Grassroots season as a junior, Landrew played for Game Elite, where he was teammates with five-star combo guard Caleb Holt on the Adidas circuit. He averaged 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, nearly two assists, and two steals per game while shooting 55% from the field.
During his junior season at Wheeler High School, Landrew averaged 18.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, helping lead the Wildcats to a 29-3 record and win the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class AAAAAA Championship, and was named Honorable Mention on the 2024-2025 All-MaxPreps team.
Landrew is the second Huskies commit for Dan Hurley and the 2026 recruiting cycle, where he joins Wasatch Academy’s Junior County who committed earlier this month.
