OTR Hoops News: Top 25 recruit Cole Cloer commits to NC State
By: Ross Van De Griek
6-foot-7 senior small forward Cole Cloer is off the board as he announced his commitment to North Carolina State on Saturday night following an official visit to Raleigh.
Cloer, currently attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, after playing his first three high school basketball seasons in the Tar Heel State, where he attended Caldwell Academy in his hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina.
Cloer chose the Wolfpack over Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, and UConn, where he took official visits to three of the finalists but did not take a visit to Chapel Hill during his recruitment period.
Cloer’s best game describes him as a versatile offensive threat where he can score on all three levels, whether it’s playing off the catch or the bounce. He has great length and has a smooth shooting release, and he has also gained a smooth and consistent jump shot. On the defensive end, he isn’t the most athletic player on the floor, but he knows his position very well, where he can run opposing players off the three-point line as well as apply consistent pressure in the passing lanes.
Cloer’s older brother (Garrett) was a wide receiver on the Cornell football program from 2015 to 2018, where his senior season was cut short after playing in the team’s first three games before sustaining a season-ending injury.
