OTR Hoops: Standouts from GA vs. Carolina Challenge – April 16, 2025

The OTR Georgia vs North Carolina challenge returned for a second year, and the REAL HoopState, North Carolina, won 29-21. Nevertheless, the event was a major success, and every team came and competed. Here are a few players that stood out to me over the course of the weekend.

By: Rod Bridgers

Aaron Parker Jr – Garner Road 3SSB 15U – 2028

As one of the more intriguing prospects in the entire event Parker came into this travel ball season after a strong freshman season at SE Raleigh HS where he was named all-conference. Parker’s athleticism immediately catches your attention, but he also showcased the ability to score the ball at all 3 levels and guards multiple positions. Parker is tracking as a High Major prospect and will be one to keep an eye on.

Kohl Rosario – Team CP3 EYBL – 2026

This was my first viewing of Rosario in person, and he showcased why he’s a top 100 recruit. He’s an athletic wing who does all the little things like defend at a high level, makes open shots & uses his athleticism to keep possessions alive. Rosario seems to be a perfect fit on a super talented CP3 primed to make another run at a Peach Jam title.

DJ McMillian- Team Bo Bell 17u – 2026

McMillan is a guard that is well known at OTR events, and he did not disappoint this past weekend. He does a great job of getting downhill putting constant pressure on the defense. He also did a good job of knocking down shots from the perimeter. I’ll be interested to see what his recruitment looks like this season. He’s one to keep an eye on

Bobby Montgomery Jr – Top Shot 15U – 2028

The 2028 class in NC is starting to look like it has the potential to be a special class, and Montgomery has a chance to be mentioned amongst the best.  He put on a scoring clinic all weekend, getting his shot at every level. He’s a shifty guard who can play in space and can make all the right reads for a lead guard.

Brodie Atkins – Cap City Clutch 16U – 2027

Atkins was easily one of my favorite players to watch all weekend with his ability to shoot the ball. He’s also crafty enough to get to the rim and finish as well. Helped lead his team to a perfect 4-0 record on the weekend. A prospect college coaches should start to monitor.
