OTR Hoops: Summer Jam – A 2nd Look of Standouts – April 21, 2024

MARIETTA, Georgia, – On the Radar Hoops Summer Jam brought out all the talent in the city. Teams from across the Southeast came to compete and be seen this weekend. Here is the second installment of names that caught our attention on the opening days of the event.

By: Jonathan Hemingway

Messiah Graham – Norcross Heat – 2025

Graham’s name has been trending all spring with his production with the Heat organization. He is blessed with the ideal size to play the position of a versatile wing-forward. He swats shots and grabs rebounds close to the rim. But he can be found just as often facing up the defense and ripping a drive to the mouth of the rim for a finish or a dunk. Defenders cannot lay-off of him either as he is proving that he can connect on 3-pointers when he catches in rhythm.

Isaac Plavich – ATL Timberwolves – 2025

Plavich is one of those point guards that appears to be built to lead a team. He plays the game with a pace and tempo that is perfect for his team. He can press the ball ahead in transition or when needed he can stomp on the breaks to get his team situated for an offensive set. We also were impressed with his ability to improvise and rip the ball to the rim when defenses slid out of position.

Harper Rife – Georgia Knights – 2026

Rife earned our respect over two days of watching him play. He is a guard that is wired to score. He is well-built but has a frame that is still waiting to mature fully. It is his footwork and feel for the game that leads him to being one of the consistent scorers on the floor. We took note of his 26-point night at Marietta High School, which included six 3-pointers. He followed that with another double-digit effort versus AC Georgia on Sunday.

Tatum Holmes – SEBA Basketball – 2026

There is reason to believe that Holmes is just getting warmed up when it comes to the game of basketball. He is a lengthy wing who is sometimes asked to play along the frontline for his team. And when he does, he does it well. We like his ability to score the ball at awkward angles and his use of footwork that keeps defenders from picking the ball away from him. It is his perimeter skill that raised our eyebrows, however. He appears to have a strong control of ball skill when in pick and roll situations on the wing. He can jab and probe between defenders and create the space needed for a pull-up jumper or to deliver a pass.

Asa Montgomery – AOT – 2027

Montgomery looks to be on a trajectory to become one of the top prospects in the city in his class after this weekend. He has all the physical tools that you like to see from a wing. Long arms, a twitchy first step, and body control with the ball in his hands. We watched him score 27 points against a Georgia Stars team that was deep with defenders and athleticism. But he was able to get to his spots and finish plays as well as you would hope from a potential elite prospect.

Marcus Curry – Georgia Stars – 2027

Curry is a prospect full of promise and hope. He got the gym buzzing with a breakaway dunk where he took flight from the middle of the lane and soared over a defender for a one-handed dunk. A defender who tried to position himself for a charge was not successful as Curry soared over him. His game is more than just dunks. He shoots the 3-pointer with confidence, and he shows the defensive instinct that all coaches like to see from a wing.

Kevin Savage – Game Elite – 2027

Savage is a freshman playing up a level and proving that he is one of the top talents regardless of age. The left-handed combo guard gets a lot of mileage from his 3-point shot. He gets it into his shooting pocket quickly and he gets it up and out with consistency. He is a competent ball handler as well. He often operates as a secondary handler, but teams would be wise not to pressure him as he can turn double-teams into a dish and dunk for his team.
