#OTRHoopsReport: Elite 75 Recap-Oct. 1, 2014

The Elite 75 showcased some of the top players in North Carolina and surrounding states

Charlotte, North Carolina– Some of the best players around the state of North Carolina and surrounding states squared off against one another this weekend at the Elite 75 Camp. A number of the top available players and multiple up and coming underclassmen worked in skill stations before competing in game play.

Making a Statement

After being in the gym for a short amount of time one could hear the consistent sound of the rim bending on the other end of the floor. As a result everyone crowded around Court 1 to see Iran Bennet of Durham, N.C. Bennett is a man standing 6-foot-9 and tipping the scale at over 300 pounds. Despite his size he gets off of the floor remarkably quick and has excellent timing around the basket at both ends. He is a very good rebounder and possesses nice instincts around the basket.

On the Radar

There were several players at the Elite 75 who havent gotten much attention from college programs, but that will change this year. Jaylen Fornes of Raleigh, N.C., was clearly one of the better guards in attendance. The 6-foot-2 guard is a confident shooter that possesses good size and strength. He has a sweet stroke, quick trigger and deep range which allows him to get his shot off at will. In additon to Fornes was Kaleb Hunter from Granville, N.C., who was a standout this summer at our Elite 32. Hunter was consistently in attack mode slashing to the basket either finding teammates or finishing above the rim.

Future Stars

Although their were plenty of upperclassmen to take note of there were plenty of young players that turned heads. BJ Mack of Charlotte, N.C., was the youngest player in attendance but showed that he belonged on the floor. Forward Ian Steer of Martinsville, Va., is a must see prospect in the class of 2018. David Caraher of Chapel Hill, N.C., ability to shoot the ball alone makes him a hot commodity.
