Evaluating players and teams is easy if the only tools are box scores and stat sheets. Finding the players who were easy to miss takes more time. Over the past year the OTR media team and scouts have watched full rosters, not just the top scorers. Here are seven seniors who earned more attention than they received. They played on good teams. In some cases, they played next to players who drew the headlines. They are worth another look.

Ethan Jeanlouis – Team Gold Coast / Coral Glades High School (FL) – 2027

Team Gold Coast’s backcourt of Donovan Swain and Gavin Reed drew much of the attention this year, and that was fair. What did not always get named was Jeanlouis, a 6-foot-7 forward who affected the game from end to end. He ran the floor like a guard and finished above the rim. He blocked shots and defended in more than one spot. Coach Stefan Whittingham has reported that Jeanlouis has earned seven offers this year, the most recent from Tusculum and Blackhawk Technical College.

Promise Palmer – Atlanta Kings / Frederick Douglass High School – 2027

The Atlanta Kings were not a fun draw this year. Their backcourt had scorers in David Williams and Kevin Rogers. Palmer was still a piece of that team. The lefty guard set the tone defensively as an on-ball disruptor. Offensively, he took on primary ballhandling duties, which let the scorers hunt shots. Palmer can score when he needs to. His pull-up will make Douglass a problem this winter.

Micah Jarvis – PSB Tampa / Cypress Creek – 2027

Jarvis is another player who deserved more ink on the circuit this year. He is 6-foot-5 with length, defensive range, and a consistent 3-point shot. College coaches have taken notice. He has earned offers from Centre College, Sewanee, and Berry since the July live periods. He returns to Cypress Creek as the team’s leading scorer with an aim to get the Coyotes deep into the postseason.

Seven Pounds – Warriors Life Elite / Goldsboro High School (NC) – 2027

Pounds earned recognition early on the circuit as one of Warriors Life Elite’s top all-around players. His travel season was cut short by injury. The 6-foot-5 wing gave length to a guard-heavy roster. He rebounded and blocked shots in the paint. He also has the agility and footwork to defend in space. He reports as a high-academic achiever.

Jackson Ushery – Team EYA / Southwest DeKalb – 2027

Ushery made a strong impression in the one weekend we evaluated him. He was a standout with Team EYA at the Sweet Sixteen. He scored, rebounded, and defended. He is a 1,000-point scorer heading into his senior season with the Panthers. His size and ability to affect the game in more than one way are reasons for optimism.

Xavier Campbell – Sunshine Elite / Leesburg High School – 2027

Campbell played alongside two guards who drew most of the attention this season. Whit Bynoe and Cory McPherson, both committed to the University of Tampa, led Sunshine Elite as one of the topxa programs on the circuit. Campbell made the most of his minutes with Coach John Elgani. He was a stiff on-ball defender who came up with steals and was effective as a distributor in the half court. His toughness and production should be noticed this season with the Yellow Jackets.
