Quincy Douby Jr., A 6-foot-5 senior combo guard out of Riviera Preparatory School in Miami, Florida, announced his commitment to the University of Wake Forest following his official visit on Saturday. Douby becomes the first commitment for Steve Forbes and the Demon Deacons in the upcoming recruiting class.

Douby Jr. chose the Demon Deacons over California, Florida State, Georgia Tech, UNLV, and several others. He was also receiving offers from Kansas State, Memphis, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, UCF, USC, and Virginia Tech.

Douby Jr. is ranked No. 104 overall in the nation, the No. 11 shooting guard, and the No. 22 overall-ranked player in the state of Florida for the class of 2027, according to 247Sports.

During his junior season at Riviera Prep, Douby averaged 17.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, according to MaxPreps. 

Douby Jr. spent the Grassroots season playing for his hometown program BallByDesign, which is on the MADE Hoops Circuit, where he struggled to shoot consistently from the perimeter, knocking down just 27 percent from the three-point line in 19 games played on the circuit.

Douby Jr. is the son of Quincy (Sr.), who played just three seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 2006 to 2009 with the Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors. Over his 143 career games in the National Basketball Association (NBA), Douby Sr. averaged 4.1 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game after being selected with the 19th overall pick in the 2006 Draft after playing his collegiate basketball career at Rutgers.

Riviera Prep finished the 2025-2026 season with a 19-10 record and reached the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 2A, Region 4 Finals before their season ended against the eventual state runner-up, Miami Country Day. The Bulldogs had won the previous three state championships from 2023 to 2025.

Scouting Report on Quincy Douby Jr: Douby Jr. is a score-first guard who understands how to make the defense pay. On the offensive end, he can knock down shots from anywhere on the court, whether it’s off the catch in transition or spotting up in the half-court offense. He also moves well with purpose when playing off the ball, consistently looking for an opening where he can display his high-volume shooting prowess. On the defensive end, he shows lateral quickness and stays engaged, which can truly round out his game as an all-around player.
