Joshua Tyson, A 6-foot-2 rising senior combo guard, is one step closer to a commitment after narrowing his school list down to six on Monday. Moving forward, he will consider the following schools: Cincinnati, Clemson, Michigan State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Xavier. Before trimming his list down to six, Tyson was being recruited by Arizona State, Akron, Dayton, Detroit Mercy, Kent State, New Mexico, Penn State, and West Virginia. 

Tyson announced earlier this summer he will be playing his upcoming senior season at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana, after spending the previous three years at Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio, which is a suburb of Cincinnati.

Tyson is scheduled to make official visits to Ohio State (August 28), Virginia Tech (September 5), and Cincinnati (September 19). He has already made an official visit to Xavier earlier this month. He also made unofficial visits to Cincinnati, Michigan State, and Ohio State.

He is ranked as the No. 55-overall prospect, the No. 9-ranked combo guard, and the No. 4 overall-ranked player in the state of Indiana for the class of 2027, according to 247Sports. 

This Grassroots season, Tyson played for Phenom United, which is a part of the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, where he averaged 14.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. 

Scouting Report on Tyson: Tyson operates primarily as a combo guard, where he has become adaptive at initiating the offense whether he is the primary ball handler or creating scoring opportunities for himself off the ball. He has a shifty handle that allows him to break down the defense in pick-and-pop situations as well as display a smooth mid-range game. He is often viewed as a score-first type of guard, where he can also get to the rim whenever he wants and has a consistent shooting stroke when it comes to shooting from the perimeter. On the defensive end, he is quick with his constant footwork and active hands, and he is explosive when pursuing the passing lanes. He impacts the game by forcing turnovers and making opponents uncomfortable while applying consistent on-the-ball pressure. Overall, his two-way playmaking skills could set the tone for an immediate impact at the next level.
