Dylan Mingo, out of Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, New York, is soon to announce where he will be playing his collegiate basketball career.
Dylan Mingo, A 6-foot-5 combo guard out of Long Island Lutheran School in New York City, will be announcing his collegiate commitment on national television.
Mingo is the younger brother of Penn State freshman small forward Kayden Mingo, who was his high school teammate a year ago, where they reached the Chipotle Nationals quarterfinals before having their season come to an end against Prolific Prep.
Mingo is scheduled to announce his commitment on Tuesday, February 17, on ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith. He will choose between four finalists featuring Baylor, North Carolina, Penn State, and Washington. He was originally scheduled to announce his commitment last month but decided to push it back to the end of the regular season and is now ready to make the long-awaited college decision.
Mingo has taken official visits to each of the four finalists, with the most recent visit coming to Chapel Hill, where he visited with the Tar Heels back in November. He visited Penn State back in September, Baylor in October, and Washington last August.
Mingo has a strong feel and understanding of the game, where he has great size, frame, and body control for a guard. His handle is as smooth as any of them, where he can create for himself as well as his teammates on the offensive end. He adds a ton of length to his game, where he has a 6-foot-10 wingspan and he is a terrific rebounder for his size. His biggest adjustment will be his perimeter shooting, where he shot just
25% from behind the arc this season. His defensive mechanics are sharp as he is quick to react in the passing lanes and is very capable of guarding multiple positions.
