Over a decade ago being a tweener wasn’t a good thing. In 2026 a player with size and versatile game is standard. Below are seven players who would be considered tweeners and why they’re so productive.

Ahjay Thomas - Swin City - 2027

Thomas looked like a 6’5 Draymond Green on the defensive end of the floor. The forward defended the paint against bigger players on the block thanks to a massive wingspan and strong upper body. He was in the right position more often than not and he could cover perimeter players fluidly. On offense he knocks down threes off the catch, runs the floor, and finishes through contact.

Chase Williams - Above basketball academy - 2027

Williams is the de facto big for his AAU team at 6’5. You’ll catch him on defense holding his own against bigger players because of his strong base. On offense you’ll catch him playing point guard. The minute he grabs a board the offense starts. Williams is a strong outlet and transition passer. His passes are accurate and his teammates in stride. Williams is a good ball handler and has good court vision.

Daviss Jones - Pro Skills - 2028

Jones is a 6’7 wing/forward with upside. He’s a dual sport athlete who has volleyball to thank for effortless bounce and mobility. He’s a work in progress on offense but has the athleticism to be a lob threat, has shooting flashes from deep, and the overall quickness to cause mismatches. Defensively his spry feet and length are great for cutting off drives and covering space.

Kaii Levy - Skills Center Elite - 2026

The minute Levy walks into the gym he jumps on your radar. The 6’7 forward looks like he’s been in a college weight program for a year. He’s a high effort and high energy player who is always on the move. He’s a good rebounder who has the ball skills to push the break. Levy is a good ball mover who throws accurate dart-like passes.

Jamicah Booker - South GA Shooters - 2028

Booker flashed scoring versatility while playing up an age group. The 6’5 forward has good footwork on the block as a stretch four that could develop into a wing by 2028. He has a consistent shooting string to the high school three point line on limited attempts. He can hit a pull up jumper off 1-2 doubles in the mid range. His confidence is so growing on the court but between the flashes and extra effort plays a chance to be a prospect.
