OTR Hoops: Birmingham Classic Weekend Standouts via @CoachHindsRCS – May 8 2024

Fultondale, Alabama, – On the Radar Hoops returned to the Fultondale area to host the Alabama Proven Grounds. Numerous teams from the Southeast lined up to compete at the top tier facility at Fultondale HS. Here is a look at prospects that have placed themselves on the radar with their standout performances.

By: David Hinds

Yusuf Morrison – ATL Express – 2027 (Pictured Above)

Yusuf Morrison is one of the better shot makers I saw regardless of class this weekend. Morrison has the potential to grow into a highly recruitable player as he continues to grow and hone the supporting aspects of his game. But when it comes down to putting the ball in the basket, there are not many in his class that can compete when he gets on a heater. Morrison is one of my favorite players that I was able to watch during the Proven Grounds.

DJ Stoudemire – Players Only – 2028

DJ Stoudemire is a good athlete that plays to his strengths. He has good length for his position, quick twitch athleticism, and a willingness to defend his butt off on the less glamourous end of the floor. I left this game applauding how Stoudemire plays the game the right way which is a testament to his coaching at such a young age.

Framuel Diaz – Rocket City Suns – 2025

Framuel Diaz is a 6’8 stretch big that has had a good showing across multiple events with OTR this spring. Diaz is a knockdown shooter who is capable of simply shooting over smaller defenders. Diaz has also shown improvement throughout the spring months as he has added a go-to over the shoulder baby hook that he knocks down at a consistent rate. Framuel is the type of player that has limitless potential and is going to make a college program very happy for 4 years.

Ja’colby Eady – Players Only – 2025

Ja’colby Eady is a jitterbug of a player. What I mean by this is he moves so fast that it is hard to contain him at any time. What he lacks in size he more than makes up for with short area burst and quickness. The speedy lefty is a capable shooter who prefers attacking the basket. His mid-range pull up has evolved since his earlier years and he is now much more of a well-rounded offensive minded point guard.

Keyshawn Watkins – Players Only – 2024

Keyshawn Watkins, a teammate of the previously mentioned Eady, is as athletic as you will find at the high school level. The combo forward stands roughly 6’6 and has a relentless motor. Watkins uses this motor/athleticism combo to average a ridiculous number of boards which naturally leads to a ton of easy putbacks around the rim. This is a player that should be recruited much more heavily than he currently is.
