OTR Hoops: Florida Opening Standouts from @CourtCred Part II – March 25, 2024

Here is a list of standouts from the The Opening in Florida.

By: Kerry Willis

Brian Waters 6’1 2026 SG FTL Elite

Viewers don’t notice, but players that possess big hands have an advantage on the court. Waters, a smooth strong was effective off the ball in a variety of ways. Those big hands allowed him to switch hands in midair when attacking the rim.  He has a simple handle, not too much flash but the use of quick crossovers kept him in the paint where he finished through contact.  His textbook jumper was on display from the perimeter when the ball was swung his way, and for a young player he was excellent at relocated and making himself available.

London Hatch 6’3 2026 SG 1Family Nxt

In Sunday’s morning session Hatch put on the best shooting display of the weekend.  He nailed six triples along with a few perimeter shots in the midrange area.  Hatch looks like a catch and shoot specialist.  He looked to let it fly in transition and was equally effective running off screens and flaring to the corner. He also had the play of the weekend as he tied the game with time expiring on a one-legged runner from three quarter court plus the foul. With no time on the clock Hatch brought home a win for his squad by calmly stepping to the line and ending it with one free throw.

Isiah Newson 5’11 2026 PG SCE Elite UA Rise

Newson is one to watch in the next coming years. The North Fort Myers product was a big-time scorer this past high school season, but nothing short of a true point guard for his SCE Elite squad.  Newson pushed tempo every chance he got, also doing a great job at breaking down and penetrating zone defenses.  With a quick first step and quick hands Newson started the break with deflections, and you could see the joy on his face as he dished to teammates throughout the game. As all young players do, he will have to work hard at transforming his body to withstand the bumps he’ll take from his ability to live in the lane moving forward. That said, a mix of a good IQ and some scoring pop should and will garner the attention of college programs.

Omar Clark Jr 2026 CG 321 Supersonics

A determined scorer. One who doesn’t hesitate when different challenges are thrown at him. The opposing team tried multiple defenses to slow him down, but they weren’t successful. Clarke scored the ball from all different levels. With a quick release he made jumper after jumper over outstretched arms.  He showed a knack for maneuvering through tight spaces to finish plays near the rim.  Clarke’s energy didn’t just stop on the offensive end. The shifty guard was very active on the glass and in the passing lanes.  He continued to put pressure on the defenses on each end of the floor from the games start to finish.

Aidan Agnew 6’7 2025 WF BTI Pressure Elite

Agnew is a senior that will be reclassifying to the 2025 class. He should be afforded more looks moving forward. A moveable piece on the floor, he can be used in a multitude of situations including initiating the offense.  He has a strong upper body to go along with a crisp handle and good footwork.  He could be a menace as a small ball four man in some programs where he could rebound and pull bigs away from the basket equally as much.
