OTR Hoops: The Welchy Report from Summer Jam – April 22, 2024

A list of standouts from the OTR Summer Jam.

Friday Court 1 Marietta HS

Dontae Crowder is a man amongst men in the paint getting rebounds and putting them back in. Makes strong moves and finishes through contact. Finished with 19pts in a win.

Nick Durham is the guy for worldwide hustle. Does a little bit of everything from knocking down jumpers to finishing in the lane. Finished with 24pts in a close loss.

Kobi Cooper is a super quick and shifty wing that thrived leading the break and getting to the basket. He also is a great rebounder and defender!

Brent Bell was easily the most efficient player on the floor. He finished 6/6 from 3 with 24pts total and lead his team to the win.

Jordan Richerson had 16pts in the second half knocking down 2 threes and getting to the cup and finishing through contact getting to the free throw line. He was the bright spot for NME in a tough loss.

Jaylon Seymour is a sharpshooter that runs the show for Miami Dor 5 Elite. He finished with 7 three pointers and 25pts in a big win.

Kristian Stewart rebounded the ball well today and plays super hard! He also knocked down 2 three pointers and got to the free throw line effectively as well!

Bless Benton is a super physical hard-nosed guard that defends well and is very solid at the point. Knocked down 2 3s and distributed the ball well to his teammates. Finished with 10pts in the win!

SATURDAY Marietta Middle

Corvin Palmer of Hype Hawks finished with 29 pts in a close loss in overtime. He mixed it up well playing off the ball scoring on catch and shoot opportunities as well as getting to the basket.

Tyler Lucas of FOTL is everything you need in a point guard. Hard nosed defender that knocks down the open 3, Creates opportunities for his teammates and does a great job feeding the ball down low to his posts. Finished with 16pts (4 3pts)

Timo Georgia of FOTL is a 6’7 post presence that attends IMG academy. He has a great motor and does everything you need out of an old school 4 man. He finished with 20pts and easily 15 rebounds in the win!

Jacob Mickell of All Georgia Elite has a great motor. He’s an efficient scorer that does well going downhill, creating for others, and getting to the free throw line.

Quinlan Cothron of NME is a great presence in the paint. Alters shots, rebounds and runs the floor well. Finished with 16 points in the win!

Blake Yarbrough of North Metro Elite is super smooth and effective. He lets the game come to him and doesn’t force anything. He finished with 13 pts in a huge win.

BJ Love of Team Scoot Pro is the engine that makes team scoot go. From dishing out assists to scoring the basketball he did it all. Finished with 16pts.

Jamai McClure of Team Scoot Pro is a pure shooter. Thrived in catch and shoot situations where he knocked down 5 threes on the day!

Esmer Medesko of North Atlanta Orangemen finished with 19 points in a win over Georgia ignites. He was very fundamentally sound getting to the rim and getting easy buckets using his footwork in the paint.

Sidney Flaggs of Georgia Ignites is a dawg! He plays super hard and does what he needs to help his team compete. He finished with 15 points.

Austin Walker of Wood Elite is who makes them go. Does a little bit of everything from facilitating to scoring to rebounding. Finished with 21 pts.

Nick Murrmann of FOTL is a 6’5 combo guard that mixes it up well running in transition and a smooth stroke from the 3.

Jackson Roberts of FOTL is a 7’0 grown man that runs the floor to get easy buckets, rebounds well, and has solid footwork. He finished with 10 points.

Andre Ngomabie of FOTL is a 6’10 junior that is super agile. He towered over defenders down low and made it look easy.

Andrew Mason of Monarchs Select is a super athletic 6’3 Combo Guard that has an array of moves that help him score at will.

Amos Bouie-Tumer of Atlanta Xpress Gold is a 6’9 big that knows his role. He rebounds get put backs and is great in the pick n roll. He had 12 pts in a win.

Devin Nelson of Atlanta Xpress Gold is a do it all guard. He uses his physicality to his advantage which helps him get to the basket and finish through contact and play above the rim. Finished with 23 pts.

Dallas Fisher of Atlanta Xpress Gold is a sharpshooter. He went 6-6 from beyond the arc in a win. He finished with 22pts

Jayden Crawford of Team Scoot is the guy who makes them go. True scorer that can get to his spots and run the offense!

Sunday Sequoyah HS

Tanner Morgan of Ga Stars is a small guard that excels playing off the ball. He is great in drive and kick situations and finished with 17pts

Chase Dupree of Team Scoot is a guard that is great at getting his teamates open shots. He lives in the midrange and knocks down the 3 as well.

Denaris Owens A.J Bouye Elite #23 is a long wing that gets to his spots and excels in the midrange. He finished with 12 points in the win.

Dylan Jackson of A.J Bouye Elite #22 is an athletic forward that gets it done around the rim. He also excels getting out in transition and running the floor.

Brian Jefferson of DBE is a great on ball defender. He excels picking up full court and getting out in transition. He finished with 12 pts in a close game to AJ Bouye.

Jay Danielly of DBE is a hard-nosed super agile forward that gets everything around the basket. Finished with a double-double in the 4pt loss to Ga Stars.

Zion Paul of DBE has is a super physical wing that gets what he wants at the basket. He has a great touch around the rim and will hang with anyone helping his team get 50/50 balls, rebounds etc.

Jaylen Nelson of DBE is a pure scorer. He scored from the 3, midrange and the cup at an effective rate. He finished with 20 pts in the win.

Bryan Goddard of DBE is a super long athletic wing that was great in transition getting deflections and easy baskets on the other end.

Ty Watson of Harris Athletics is way ahead of his years physically and offensively. He helped lead his team to a 4-0 weekend.

Troy Phillip of Harris Athletics is a big that does what’s needed to help his team win. Rebounds, boxes out and brings the intensity.

Alex Stewart of Harris Athletics fills the stat sheet up. Not super flashy but does everything needed. Finished with 15 pts in the win.

Bobby Harping of Hoop Atlanta is one of my top performers of the weekend. He is so fundamentally sound and does make the right reads. Playing up 15u as a 8th grader he finished with 15 pts and led his team to a 4-0 record this weekend!

Deng Longar of FOTL is a 6’7 agile forward that thrived in the high post. Finishing a couple of midranges as well as buckets at the rim

Noah Bol of FOTL is a 7’0 freshman big that has tons of untapped potential. He gets his hands on tons of rebounds offensively and defensively.

Jordan Jones of FOTL is a 6’4 combo guard that can score from 3 or from the midrange. Finished with 12 points.

Justin Page ran the show for FOTL. He did great attacking and kicking and shooting off the dribble as he finished with 4 3 pointers and plenty of assists.
